History

Xboxyde was started by J-F Mammet in September 2003 in time for the Microsoft press conference X03, where his friend SnakeX was invited. There was free bandwidth available, so he & Colin had the idea to start a site where they could host the videos that was recorded with the one of the brother's camcorder. The site was launched one week later, using the code base from another site J-F had developed.

We instantly got some exclusive content from the show floor, like the announcement trailer of Halo 2. This video and a few others became so popular that he started working on an English version. A few months later a Swedish version was started by Axel, while other languages were to follow (and disappear).

Xboxyde quickly became popular thanks to exclusive content and lightning fast news reporting, but it was in 2005 that the site became really popular. Thanks to E3 coverage in May, and then the Tokyo Games Show followed by X05. October 2005 was by that time a record month , with more than 422.000 unique visitors, an incredible number for a site that was never planned to become more than a simple French fansite.

The sister site Playsyde was started in 2006 and covered Sony's platforms, with the same three man strong news crew that had run Xboxyde. The step of covering all gaming platforms was taken in September 2007 when Gamersyde.com was launched.

Thanks to a strong community and a lot of hard work from both the news team and the great forum moderator team, the visitor count continued to rise with a record month at the end of the year 2007. Our equipment now include several High-definition camcorders and HD capture setups in France, Sweden and Japan.

What's up?
  • Zomoniac
Zomoniac @dingleberry doesn't matter, if you score with both shots and defend successfully all game it's still a win. Shouldn't have been 6-2 to Liverpool as shots mean nothing if they don't go in. (1 Hour ago)
  • dingleberry
dingleberry Birmignham 2 shots on goal, 11 men behind the ball. Should have been about 6 - 2 to Liverpool. Rafa's going nowhere. (2 Hours ago)
  • Slabs
Slabs @blmbox: Keep Rafa At Pool. Love him talking bollocks. Also refs are having too much influence on results, we need video refs ASAP, the time "lost" would be less than player protests now! (3 Hours ago)
  • blmbox
blmbox I've got to say, it's funny to see Liverpool resorting to cheating in order to pick up a point against one of the league's lesser sides. Surely Rafa's days are numbered? (3 Hours ago)
  • Haig07
Haig07 Well Flashforward was boring again. Is it a full season or is it a nice short 16 episode one? I can't be arsed watching any more :I (3 Hours ago)
