Too right gmulis - not enough sports (or specifically footie) topics on here.

My favourite team is Holland. I don't really know why if i'm being honest, I just think they have a lot of great talent and they could shock a lot of people this year.

A lot of people are saying Spain are going to win it, but I just expect them to underachieve like another certain team who we won't be seeing in the tournament this year.

I honestly can't say who I think will win, but i'd like Holland to for some reason. There are a lot of great teams in the tournament and i'm looking forward to tomorrow.

No it's not. Do you know of a site that hosts highlights or something? I wish I could see like a 10 minute wrap ups online, I don't have access to the Euro 2008 here, but I wish I could, some of the best football @ Europe.

Oh what! I found a cool stream from ESPN, and myp2p.eu can have some really good streams too, you just need a bit more digging specially if you don't want to download any programs like myself.

I was able to watch the F1 qualifying sessions, nice.

Now, for anyone who wants to watch the Euro (I just watched big part of Switzerland vs. Czech Republic), go to ESPN360.com

^^^^maybe its due to the level of competativity of the tournament, unlike EPL, here you facing the best of best europe has to offer

anyway lets not judge until the tournament is over, however i believe if he wants to be considered best player, he has to do more than he did today

Yes true. I'm not writing him off tbf, but I am a bit sick and tired when the ITV commentators feel they have to praise him every time he touches the ball.

Good first day though, and two great goals from Portugal. Joao Moutinho is quite the talent.

I didn't find the goals special at all, they were OK, and the last one came after the 90+ minute mark. It was a fairly boring match.

And yes, Ronaldo didn't do much.

problem with todays youngsters like CR,Messi,Benzema, waney rooney etc

they haven't shown the same brilliance on an international level, compared to the likes of zidane, luis figo, ronaldo(brazillian). these guys could have mediocre season on club level but onces they played for their country, it was another story. todays stars lack that

You make a really good observation, and you are very much right. It's like Ronaldinho didn't do anything at the last world cup, and the same for CR and Rooney. Now, I think Messi has had really good showings when playing with Argentina, so I think there are some exceptions.

Well it's a bit harsh to rule out Benzema just yet because I believe he is capable of doing something in this tournament. Also, Messi doesn't do too bad for Argentina. But Ronaldo and Rooney are lacking something at international level for me.

A good first day in my opinion though, and i'm looking forward to tomorrow's games.

Ok first off those of you saying that Ronaldo doesn't play well in international games because the level is higher is horse shit. The champions league is composed of the best teams in Europe. He won it by the way with the most goals scored.He's just being really tightly marked, which opens up space for the other players... Too bad Quaresma didn't play to make use of that space...

Let's change the topic, because I really don't want to be talking about Ronaldo for too much longer. ;)

What does everyone think about the games today?

I think today will be another case of the hosts getting beat, as Croatia look a very good and technically competent side.

I also think Germany will beat Poland, possibly by a couple as well. The germans have a very good side, especially in an attacking sense (although they're no slouches at the back).

Sooooo, i'm going to go for 2-0 Croatia and 3-1 Germany.

I think Poland can possibly beat germany, benhaker is a fantastic coach...but it's not likely 2-1 Germany.
