Yeah, against a Spain or a Holland I think they'd really struggle if i'm being honest.

Really liking the game at the moment; being played at a real good pace.
Portugal plays fantastic against offensive teams, We eliminated the dutch from the last 3 tournaments, I don't want to play against France, Italy or Greece. It's not that they have good teams but Portugal struggles against teams that park the bus in front of the net.

I'm sorry, I'm Dutch and you'll probably call me biased though: None of the 3 games was a deserved win...

The last game though was so bad it shouldn't even be allowed to be called match... I can't remember the exact figures but the actual time the game was being played was around 60 minutes.... That means the rest of the 30 minutes were being wasted in as I recall it: The dirtiest tricks, plays and fouls I've ever seen in one footy match.. I felt robbed after that one.... I especially found Figo one dirty little C*nt....

Watching that game, even watching a reply now makes me angry and I am in general not an angry person.....

Saying that, I enjoyed watching Portugal vs. Czech Republic... Quite a fun match and some nice football from both sides....

Switserland vs. Turkey was an enjoyable match as well. But in the end I found the Swiss more deserving of a win... :D

Croatia dominated the game and thoroughly deserved their win in my opinion. Germany were incredibly frustrated, portrayed through the expressions of Ballack throughout the course of the game.

Croatia might win the whole thing, and it wouldn't be as big a shock as everyone might think.

Whilst Scolari is no poor manager, I am disappointed with our manager choice because my personal preference was Bilic - a man with so much charisma and a genuinely like-able guy.

The three games weren't deserved? we killed you guys in Portugal 2004 it wasn't even close. In 2002 we beat you in Holland. And 2 years ago you guys played just as dirty as we did so how were you robbed? you guys actually played a fair play ball that was supposed to be kicked back to us, where deco got a red card. and Boularouz took out Ronaldo at the beginning of the game. Both teams were dirty...but we're just better.

Bit arrogant isn't it to say you're better than Holland, deco. It is also incorrect in my view, because as a neutral i've been far more impressed with Holland than I have Portugal. In my opinion, Portugal would get beaten by other teams in the tournament such as Holland and Spain. Furthermore I happen to dislike Portugal more than a lot of other teams in this tournament, particularly when it comes to your wingers. I mean, Ronaldo and Simao just topple over and look like they're about to cry most of the time - it's pathetic. Even as a Chelsea fan where there is a significant influence from our players, I still don't like Portugal and I feel that they are very unsporting most of the time.

And speaking of your user name (deco), I hope more than anything that he doesn't join Chelsea - we don't need him at all, and have better players already in that position.

My goodness.

I thought that there was no chance that the game this afternoon, Italy vs. Romania, could be bettered in terms of entertainment and quality.

Well ... it did. That display of Holland is reminiscent of the 1970 Brazil team. Absolutely incredible - Euro 2008 <3.

Yep, they were very poor if we're being honest. Plus they face a very tough last game, very tough.

The worst thing is, it might not even matter, as I expect Holland to play a weakened side which Romania could beat.

Gotta admit though, it's been a great day of football; it's what it's all about.

my only hope is that holland doesn't throw their match to romania. that can give france or itally a chance

Yes, amazing game. Holland are playing very strong, the backrow isn't that good but their front is propably the best in this turney.

I still hope France will beat Itally, and I don't expect the dutch to take the last game easy. Sure they'll let other players have some practice, too, but that makes them more reckless in their play. I expect 2-3 goals from the dutch in their last game.

Altough I'm only able to see the highlights of the Holland - France game, it seemed to be a very entertaining match... And although France had a couple of good changes... We slaughtered them.... Can't wait for the next game

It's easy to say one team is better than another without actually seeing them play against each other...I was just talking about the game that he said we didn't deserve, which we all won. I've said it once I'll say it again, Portugal play very well against attacking teams. We beat Brazil both of the last 2 games we played them, Spain in 2004 and Holland in 2002,2004,2006. By the way what exaclty make Spain better than Portugal?? Holland plays 2 games and now they're world beaters. Football is not about the results you get against one team to compare to another. Croatia played like shit against Austria then kicked germany's ass. People who talk with so much confidence that one team would easily beat another based on 2 games, don't know much about football.

Look, i'm basing my opinions on form.

Form, after all, is a more up to date basis than what you did two years ago, right?

So if we're basing it on tournament form, Holland would beat you. I never said it in a confident manner - I simply said that I feel a team like Holland or Spain would beat you. Not to say that they definitely would, but I would consider them favourites for that particular match. I'm basing my opinions on what i've seen so far, not from what happened a couple of years ago because teams have developed since then.

In my opinion, you put way too much emphasis on Ronaldo - a player who, with at least a couple of defenders around him, is largely ineffective. Another key reason why I rate Holland and Spain higher than Portgual is because I feel that your midfield is inferior to both of those teams. Holland with Van Der Vaart and Sneijder and Spain with Xavi and Iniesta, have a better midfield than an average Petit, a young (but admittedly gifted) Joao Moutinho and in my opinion a vastly over-rated Deco.

Saying all this, I believe that if your wingers perform to their best then you can go all the way.

I don't like the Portugese players and I don't like their behaviour often. I'm from Holland and am really enjoying Hollands performance so far. They definitely have a good shot at the title, but some things you say make no sense.

I can't stand Ronaldo, but he is an amazing player with some amazing statistics, especially this year (in probably the toughest football competition in the world, mind you).

Portugal are a force to be reckoned with, they can beat anyone on a good day, but they can also lose from anyone on a bad one. This applies to Holland as well, and many other big teams. I think it's too premature at this point to make any confident statements on who will pull through in the end. For all we know, Italy will beat France, Holland will beat Romania and Italy beat Holland 5-0 in the semifinals. It can happen and scenario's like this (though not as extreme as my example perhaps) have happened plenty times before. So for now, I'm being mildly optimistic, but cautious.

Just my 2 ct.

Look, I don't think you understand what i'm getting at.

What I say makes sense, because I am stating in general who I have been most impressed with. I have been most impressed with Holland, and they look like a great threat.

It isn't a confident statement, it's a clear observation. Who's to say Portugal wouldn't beat Holland? That's the beauty of Football people.

I'm going for Holland though. :)

First off I believe Portugal has a stronger defense than both those teams. Carvalho and Pepe might be the best defensive CB pairing in the Euro... Bosingwa who not too many people seem impressed with is much better then he has been showing, I'm a Porto fan...I know. Ferreira is solid enough but not the greatest.

How is Deco overrated? He was the man of the match against the czechs. He's had a tough season but he's been passing well. I'm not a big Ronaldo fan but the boy can put it in the net. I'd rather have Quaresma and Nani on the wings with Ronaldo up front. Petit isn't meant to be spectacular and if we do need to keep the ball we can play another fantastic youngster in Veloso.

The dutch defense isn't too good, France had so many chances regardless of the score. By the time netherlands if they make it to the final will probably have half their team injured.

Spain's wingers aren't that great and the defense is on the slow side.

I agree with your views on Portugal's defence. I do think however Ferreira is a big weakness, only because he is being played out of position. A brilliant winger (e.g. Robben) would show him up. Obviously as a Chelsea fan i'm a big admirer of Riccy (Carvalho), and Pepe has performed well. I would be interested with you being a Porto fan to hear your views on Bosingwa? Have we (Chelsea) bought a good right back and is he worth the £16 million we've spent on him?

Perhaps I was being harsh with saying Deco is over-rated (although I sure hope Chelsea don't sign him because our midfield players are better than him). However, I do feel that the midfields of Spain and Holland are better and your midfield is the weakest of the three.

I also agree with your front three proposition - whilst Nuno Gomes works quite hard, Nani and Quaresma on the wings with Ronaldo up front would be an effective strike force.

In terms of attack, I wouldn't say that your attackers are better than Holland or Spain. Spain have arguably the best strike partnership in the whole tournament with Torres and Villa and Holland have a superb attack in Robben, Van Persie and Van Nistelroy. Spain don't really play with wingers but Silva, who plays out wide for Spain, is one of the best young talents in Europe at the moment.

Overall, there is no definitive winner in those games - games involving these three teams will be incredibly close.
