I thought the movie was great. It really had the feeling of the oldschool tv show.

It even teased with a similar start. Superhero movies are really starting to deliver.

Agreed. The new Hulk movie was great. I enjoyed it just as much as Iron Man...but for different reasons. Iron Man was a bit more charming and funny whereas The Incredible Hulk had much better action scenes. Good stuff.

Iron Man wasn't really that mindblowing. In my opinion, the reason why Iron Man was so successful was because it played it safe and was very all around good. It was made in a way that would be accessible to every individual.

Top comic based films for me still are, Spiderman 2, Batman 2, 1, Begins, Superman Returns. In that order
Iron Man is up there for sure, if not for the lame main boss battle, it'd join those ranks for me.

Superman Returns kind of sucked. It seemed to maintain the same tone as the previous Superman movies(which were horrible) and basically ignored Superman's aversion to kryptonite when it was convenient(bullshit he could just throw a landmass partially made of kryptonite into space...retarded).

Iron Man only lacked a kick ass action scene. From start to finish it was more than completely solid in every respect.

Good superhero movies for me are Batman, Batman Begins, Spiderman 1/2, X-Men 1/2, Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk....and the original Punisher movie starring Dolph Lundgren (lol...j/k... ....sort of :P ).......(although it was definitely more like a Punisher comic than the Thomas Jane travesty...blech).

The previous Superman movies with Christopher Reeve were genius/classics (1 and 2), which is why the new one was so good. Watching some of my favorite childhood movies reinvented was glorious
Also it wasn't ignored when it was convenient. First of all it was contained with what the landmass was made of, and you don't know how well it retains the kryptonite inside. I.e. like lead acts against radiation
Second, Superman's aversion may be less effective when put under an extreme situation, much like average people who exhibit extreme strength or resilience when put in a dire situation.
I'm so glad they're making a sequel.

The newer Punisher was pretty hilarious though, I laughed the entire time... sailboat/family reunion scene ftw

Spiderman 1 was done for me when they ruined the Goblin's costume. What a waste not using Defoe's face for that suit.

The final fight in Iron Man blew, simply put.

I don't quite subscribe to the idea that old is the same as classic and therefore should be considered good. Have you actually seen the Superman movies lately?

I assume you haven't seen Superman Returns lately as you obviously don't remember the scene where he lifts the island into space. The kryptonite wasn't contained; there were several LARGE spikes of it very near Superman and some smaller ones within inches. His hands were even touching kryptonite.

The idea that he had the equivalent of an adrenalin boost is a bit of a stretch considering how Superman is usually pretty much incapacitated by even the smallest amounts of kryptonite, often unable to even crawl away from its presence let alone lift a fucking ISLAND infused with it. Where was his adrenalin boost when he was getting the shit kicked out of him on the surface of the island? It was a weak resolution to a weak plot(Lex Luthor wants to make land?! *gasp!*)

I'm glad as well that they're making a sequel because I know I'll probably enjoy it at least; I enjoyed Superman Returns, but I don't think it was a good movie. I'd be more glad if they were making a requel though with an actual decent Lois Lane(Kate Bosworth FTL).

So...you're saying don't like Spiderman 1 simply because you didn't like the Goblin's costume?

I do agree that the final fight in Iron Man sucked, but the rest of the movie was top notch.

You think what he does to people dressed as Hulk is bad, try dressing up as Batman. Let's just say he wanted to be Robin a bit too much ...

He got recharged from the energy of the sun, did he not? Anyway, regardless, that quick energy boost would have disappeared when he would have attempted to lift that big ass Kryptonite island, like you stated. This isn't All-Star Superman.

Don't even get me started on the kid having super-powers.

For the next movie they better try something new. I'm talking about bringing in freaking Darkseid or Doomsday.

He got recharged from the sun, yes, but there's a difference between getting REcharged and getting SUPERcharged. Exposing himself to the sunlight like that would've returned him to his regular level of health and strength, NOT a higher level that would allow him to lift a million tons of kryptonite into space.

Darkseid or Doomsday would be cool, but I'd easily bet a million dollars that they wouldn't do either character justice.

I own the dvd's so I see it often. Did you hate them when you first saw them as a little kid? Or did you not see them until you were much older?

When Superman lands on the island he is fine until it's exposed/he's kicked through it

When he's lifting the island it's not exposed until he's decently in space and has to let go because too much is exposed (he doesn't even notice any weakness until he's booted)
It seemed to be explained by it falling off the kryptonite and he looks up at it (while he's leaving the atmosphere)

Also correct about Spiderman 1. Defoe to me was the perfect fit for a rubber masked green goblin, but because it was Rami he got his usual blocky metal costume look via Power Rangers.
He's my favorite Spiderman villain, was pretty dissapointing

I agree that Kate Bosworth is a bad Lois Lane though

well I'll be damned, looks like it's time to take back them words. Incredible Hulk was awesome. This is how the first one should have been. Granted I didn't care for always the girlfriend Liv Taylor(but she's hot so eh), and I still prefered Bana to Norton(though he did a good job). Still, overall, it was awesome. Loved the scene when they played the brief piano piece from the Incredible Hulk TV show, then even had the man himself give a guest spot! The final boss scene was also kick ass, a hell of a lot better than the last one(lol). When Hulk said "Hulk Smash!", that was it for me. Marvel Studios is 2 for 2.
