2007-03-10 14:05:50 Number 6(actually i found out it was 7, yes 7 xbox 360s)

as of now i have no 360 ( good job i am not really playing it at the momment ;) ) my 6th 360 has died
but when i rang xbox up i made it clear right away i am not happy. some nice woman answers saying "how can i help you" and i reply "my fucking xbox has broke again, and i'm not best fucking pleased"

after exchanging serial numbers and after she seen how many i have got through (i look after my gear ok, my gear is all as good as new from my nes to my psp) she then tells me her supervisor will ring me back (still waiting :( ) and i said look, all i want is a BRAND NEW! xbox 360 not some refurb shyt, and she replied do not worry you will have compensation and a new 360 for your problems...............woot indeed

if that is true then cool, but i doubt it, will update when geezer rings back.

anyone else had this ?

oh and grift might like this part, i found out my 360 was bust trying to download WORMS!!!!!!!!

i will never get to play it :(

:D lol, i look after my stuff very well, my first 360 lasted a whole year, as soon as that died i have had nothing but hell with the replacements.

and the ones they send me back are always covered in scratches n shit :( i like my stuff to be imaculate.

I wouldn't except a scratched replacement at all, that's rediculous especially if they all brake that soon again, I would make hell and demand a completly new one..

I hope they really send you a new one now.. And if not, and it was me, that would probably mean the last time I ever bought an Xbox..

Yeah i lost my rag a little (they woke me up i was asleep and i am feeling rather ill)
so i currently have a broke xbox that i am considering trading in for a PS3 (games loss not mine) and then buy a new WORKING! version at the end of the year.

I am a big fan of the xbox, but after all the hastle i have now had with the 360s and "help" line with people who cant talk english, i have NO faith what so ever in this machine now and to charge me after all the hastle i have had with with ringing them, then ringing parcel force then having the misses to stop at home EVERYTIME! they have to pick one up and drop one off


If she said "on behalf of microsoft i am very sorry for the trouble you have had"... i still would not of paid, but at least i would of liked this person enough not to blow off

an apology would of calmed me down.

yes i feel bad for shouting at her... but oh well.

i should of read that before they rang .....

I also must state, that i also was a person when 360 launched who flamed anyone saying "i have had 4 xboxs now" i assumed they was nothing but sony muppetts, but after all these breaking in the last 6-7 months....anyone i flamed i am sorry.

Right, i've been reading these forums for quite some time now, and felt the need to register this time round to just clarify that i know for a fact mr Manthatyoufear (or don't fear..) always has his gear in mint condition. I remember him having a NES in near-mint condition, and believe me, that thing has been played on a lot up to the nostalgic moments of current day.

Last week, my first Xbox broke down after playing on it for a year +, ironically also while watching a movie (Cowboy Bebop the Movie for anyone that cares..)
So i rang MS up, the nice guy sent me an email with the coupon so my xbox would get picked up by upc. I'm still waiting for it to arrive, but knowing Man's story i'm not that hopefull and will check my xbox for possible scratches asap.

In my humble opinion, Microsoft should just send him a new one, in a sealed new box without charge because this is just ridiculous. Customer help fine, Xbox survivability after that, not so fine. 85 ponds is still 85 ponds to much for the hastle he has had with it.

Oh and on a side note, he's sorry for the persons he flamed with broken xbox's that weren't sony muppets, not for flaming sony fanboys, that's just his 2nd favorite hobby.

Well, some points.

1. MS extended their warranty for not only launch units but for all units to 1 year. They have had such issues with hardware that they were forced to extend their warranty and this is NOT an isolated situation.

2. Shane Kim -- her BOSS -- recently noted these issues at a GDC 2007 interview...

3. The press is catching on and a consumer watch dog show has been digging into these 360 issues and looking for people with these issues... and IGN has run a number of articles on the topic...

4. If you cannot get your unit replaced with a working unit -- and have had to go through 6 broken ones while under warranty -- you will be forced to contact the BBB or other consumer group and report them, along with links to their divisions CEO comments on defective units as well as reports from major gaming networks, and file an official complaint about violation of their warranty as well as knowingly distributing defective units.

Have fun... and now everyone knows why I won't touch a launch console.

The new DVD drives are very quiet and with 65nm (less heat and power usage) around the corner I can get a cheaper 360 + a lot of great games CHEAP + better hardware. Early adopting SUCKS.

OH Man ... What a tragic Story ManThatYouFear. Currently on my 2nd 360 and it's supposed to be the one with the quite drive so here's to hoping it doesnt break anytime soon. I have an extra 2 years of warranty (which I payed for £60) but at least I know they wont charge me if it ever breaks again, god forbid!

Well, you get what you pay for.. There's several reasons why gameconsoles are so cheap.. Don't get me wrong I like my Xbox 360, but looking at build quality it really is kindof poor if you ask me, it doesn't feel like a sturdy piece of machinery, all plastic etc.. And it's the same with all gameconsoles if you ask me, you're lucky if one lasts you more then 5 years.. How many people are still on their 1st PS2 for example? It wouldn't suprise me at all if they were a minority..

And if what happened to ManThatYouFear happened to me the Xbox 360 would end up in the dumpster and I would go back to PC-only gaming (after having laughed at the outsourced support person telling me I have to pay to get a new one)..

Luckily my (March 2006) Xbox 360 still works fine..

You know, it works miracles being patient and polite, it could save you 85 bucks in this case.

I know it has helped me in many occasions, even when they legally weren't obligated to meet my requirements, I got away with it simply by being patient and polite.

Never, NEVER piss off the people that are pretty much your last resort..!
(and people that serve your food!)

Like I said.. 1st time sure, 2nd time aswell, 3rd maybe.. But after 6 times and then they even have the guts to tell you you have to pay?? Sorry, but that would seriously piss me off.. And who says I wouldn't be polite? I would be polite but at the same time very persistant, not giving in until I got want I want.. And If they won't give it to me then that's the end of it, Xbox 360 in the garbage, it's games for sale, and back to PC-only gaming.. And I will let them know (and I know people working in those outsourced callcentres couldn't care less, but at least I can vent)..

Sure, it's hard not to get pissed, but don't you think you're better off keeping your cool and possibly save some money, instead of barking at the operator and completely dismissing your chance at a cost-free replacement..?

Also, I wasn't responding to you Inflatable, but at the topic opener who seems to have a handfull of barking at people judging from some of his posts here on Xboxyde...

To be honest i might stick to what i said and trade my broke 360 in for a PS3, i have been a loyal fan to this brand since day 1, i buy more games than there average hardcore fan (hell bought them all bar lost planet fuzion frenzy andcall of duty 3 and the sports titles)

i feel like i have just been bent over over and been loyaly screwed for my loyalty.

I totally understand that your pissed and frustrated, but like acert and jato said, in this case, holding your temper and be polite may get you further....

If i was on the other end of the phone and u would start shouting at me and start swearing i would no doubt go into my: "HELL NO" mode

It doesn't matter anymore to her what your situation is because you already put her in a position where she thinks: "i'm not gonna do anything for that guy, no matter how bad he has been treated"

You would rather want them to be reasonable and they might even start helping u instead of blowing u of with: "pay us"

Please do Ring back. Dont let them win this. Make sure yo dont lose it and who knows, the person who answers might be a lot more helpful than you think. I know it s*cks man but you have no choice but to keep trying.
You know, after you told me your story Im kinda scared to go and turn my 360 on again. it's been off for quite some time (been busy with Final Fantasy 12) and infact the last time my first console broke was when I turned it on after quite some time of it being off ..... Scary! :D

    Doom_Bringer D2D file right now is 9.2 GB's. I think it was less when I was downloading it (now its extracted) I am pretty sure Steam works the same way. 12 gb is probably the extracted size :P (45 minutes ago)
