1.6GHz VIA Isaiah processor, 8.9" screen (1280x766), 2GB Memory, 120GB HDD (7200RPM), Vista, 95% full size KB... not bad for a little portable. Would be great for school. The smaller edition runs for $550. HP is supposedly making 2M of these, so hopefully the retail pricing is even more competitive. I like the trend though. As the new Intel Atom chips come to market it will be nice to see small mobile PCs with normal OSs and decent enough performance to run Word, Excell, and non-graphic Windows apps at a usable speed.

Very nice indeed. I was able to test out a Gigabyte U60 over a couple of days and found it to be a treat, though it was unbearably slow for what I would ultimately want a UMPC to do (work on PDFs and other visual stuff)

I ended up buying a Lenovo X61 Tablet which I guess isn't quite a UMPC (though it is very compact indeed)

Well I guess it's not that bad. Now, this is to run basic apps here but sometimes even for that you need a bigger screen. Or maybe it's just me.

The HP actually has a decent keyboard which would make it far more suitable for office apps than the crappy "slate" style UMPCs. Samsung even had to start giving away a keyboard with theirs because it was so difficult to use.

That's pretty slick, but it's a little expensive. You can get a larger notebook with better specs for a simular price I would imagine.
