2008-06-20 21:22:21 PS3 Update Failure I am stuck in an update loop while trying to upgrade from 2.35 to 2.36 on my PS3. Like an idiot I downloaded to my hard drive and somehow the file is corrupted. It gets to 73% then fails and you have to re-start the PS3, only to achieve the same result. I made a list of the hard drive seek times on the upload. I.E. it seeks data at 3%, 7% etc. If I pull it before the seek at 73% that I am guesing contains the corruption, then reinsert it at 75%, I make it all the way to 99% but it then fails. I am guessing it is failing against a size or data checksum due to the data missing at the coruption point. Does anyone have any ideas? Is there any way to force it to seek the USB or Memory Stick instead of continually going to the hard disk? I tried booting without the hard disk and it powers up with no video for a 2 min then shuts down. I tried booting with no hard disk and the update on USB and also on Memory stick with the same result. I am sad and do not have $150 to send this off to Sony. There must be some way to get a non-corrupt bios to load. PLEASE HELP!! Thanks in advance! |

2008-06-22 10:37:02 Man, I had trouble updating to this too. My download jumped from 73% to 100% then froze. I left it for 15mins before manually shutting down the power supply, when it rebooted it installed fine. Only thing I can suggest is going through these steps http://www.us.playstation.com/PS3/About/SystemUpda... --- |

2008-06-29 21:51:18 Did you try a full `manual reboot` by holding down the power button on the front panel for 8 seconds?. Maybe that`ll help ?. |
