08/04/2006 à 07:45:38 Some names and descriptions of Sentient Swords that may very well be in too human. (dyack says baldur carries a sentient sword)

Now I'm not sure how accurate this is, but remembering some stuff I MIGHT know the name of 3 of the sentient weapons which are said to be the most dangerous weapons around in too human. There are more of these sentient weapons most likely, but I believe I have the names of 5 of the swords.

Sentients have been referred to as an almost godlike machine that turns against its creator.

1) Stormbringer
2) Mournblade (Said to be a brother or sister sword of Stormbringer it's been called stormbringer's twin)
3) Ragnarok (unsure if its a true sentient)
4) BlackTongue (unsure if its a sentient)
5) Changeling (I'm not sure if this is a sentient weapon, but its said to be almost as powerful and dangerous as Stormbringer)

Storm and Mourn I'm positive are sentient weapons. Stormbringer seems to be quite the center of alot of attention so i'd be EXTREMELY surprised if a weapon by this name isn't in too human.

There could be a possibility, I'm guessing, that baldur has one of these. I suppose it isn't Stormbringer due to the following information i'm going to list.

Stormbringer is the name of the infamous black sword featured in a number of fantasy stories by the author Michael Moorcock. Created by the forces of chaos, it is described as a huge, black sword covered with strange runes carved deep into its blade. It is wielded by the doomed albino emperor Elric of Melniboné.

This enchanted black blade is a force of chaos and evil. It is also a member of a demon race that was forged into the form of a sword. Stormbringer's edge is capable of cutting through virtually any material not protected by potent sorcery. Its most distinctive features are that it is sentient (if not sapient), with a mind and will of its own, and that it feeds upon the souls of those it kills. Elric loathes the sword but is almost helpless without the strength and vitality it confers him.

Stormbringer’s hunger for souls is such that it frequently betrays Elric by creating bloodlust in Elric and turning in his hands and killing friends and lovers. The cursed nature of the sword adds to Elric’s guilt and self-loathing even as he feels pleasure when stolen lifeforce enters his body.

Stormbringer has a ‘sister’ sword named Mournblade, which was at one time wielded by Elric’s cousin and enemy Yyrkoon. It is identical to Stormbringer in most regards.

In the novel Stormbringer, Elric summons others of Stormbringer's demonic race (also in the form of swords) to fight against three Dukes of Hell.

Stormbringer itself is a powerful weapon, possibly the most powerful hand-to-hand weapon ever handed out to a character in fantasy fiction ( The sword named Changeling is said to come close.). It is a sentient being, and only appears as a sword in this world (and most others). Stormbringer has duplicates throughout the Multiverse, as well as "brother" swords one named Mournblade.

Stormbringer's Personality
Stormbringer is evil by nature , and enjoys killing, especially if it hasn't been "fed" recently. The sword can move under it's own volition, and has even directed itself to kill Elric's friends and allies. Only occasionally has Elric been able to pull the weapon away.

At the end of the last Elric novel (in the cycle) Stormbringer informs Elric's corpse "I was far more evil than you ever were."

Powers:
Stormbringer drains the soul from its target, a power that's a little hard to define. As a sword, it seems to function normally, although Stormbringer has shown itself capable of penetrating armor quite easily. When ever it hits (and injures an opponent), the Body Transfer will kick in, feeding the sword's END reserve which is used to fuel Stormbringer's Aid. Got that? This represents Stormbringer's draining of one's soul, and transferring a little of that energy to whoever owns the sword. The "Affects Desolid" advantage is there to allow Stormbringer to affect ghosts, spirits, and certain extradimensional beings.

Appearance:
Stormbringer is a great black battle blade, five feet long and covered with runes carved deep into the blade.

Mournblade is the twin of Elric of Melniboné's vampiric runeblade, Stormbringer. The swords are creatures of Chaos in Michael Moorcock's Elric book series and were found in an alternate dimension by Elric and his evil cousin Yyrkoon. Mournblade only made brief appearances in the series. Like Stormbringer, Mournblade is a great sentient black sword with runes carved into the blade, and possesses the ability to steal the souls of those it slays, in turn increasing the strength of it's wielder.

Now this next part here WHICH might end up potentially spoiling a part of too human you can look read if you don't mind. It doesn't mention baldur or anything like that, but it suggests something that may or not take place in too human's plot and it might come as a surprise I'm not sure, but I thought it could possibly reveal something so I didn't openly show it. At any rate too human in terms of story just got a whole lot more interesting for me and I'm sure there is alot of other stuff I'll be surprised about. Man I wish I could go to E3 to see that game in action firsthand and also get a chance to meet denis dyack.

In Elric of Melniboné, Elric and Yyrkoon find the runeblades in a realm of Limbo and commence battle. Elric and Stormbringer disarm Yyrkoon, and Mournblade disappears. Yyrkoon is defeated, and Elric and his cousin return to Imrryr. In The Weird of the White Wolf, Elric returns to Imrryr after a long journey and confronts Yyrkoon, who usurped the throne in his absence. Yyrkoon has regained Mournblade through unknown means and uses it to attack. Elric and Stormbringer kill Yyrkoon, and no further mention is made of Mournblade. All of Imrryr is destroyed by invading forces, so it seems that Mournblade shares the city's fate. In Stormbringer, Elric learns that the representatives of Fate, which serve neither Chaos or Law, recovered Mournblade from the netherworld. They present it to Elric and explain that the runeblades were designed to be wielded by those with Melnibonéan royal blood as a check against the might of the Dead Gods of Chaos. Elric gives Mournblade to his kinsman, Dyvim Slorm, and the two men become embroiled in a confrontation between the gods.

Also people might find this collection of posts from denis dyack pretty cool. Always nice seeing what the developers have to say on certain things. I strongly believe such interaction actually helps assure the success of the game. I'm willing to bet even the ones that were flaming or hating too human trying to get on dyack's case will have their eyes on too human this e3 in a very big way and have probably already purchased a 360 just to play the thing.

If you were a fan when they developed for nintendo whats the difference now? There is none, which is why I feel it'd be pretty sad if the japanese market didn't support sakaguchi's games simply because they are on the 360 instead of the ps3 and equally sad if people that claimed to be big fans of eternal darkness didn't get too human.

Rest assured if blue dragon or lost odyssey were being released on the ps3 they would probably sell equal or better than kingdom hearts II or final fantasy XII.

http://forums.toohuman.net/index.php?action=vthrea... <---This one especially if you read most of the ones here you are practically assured too human is going to deliver in such a big way. E3 feels as if its 2 years away man.

Stormbringer reminds me of the sword in Chrono Cross, that turned the weilder evil ... I forget the name of it..

But ya know for everything evil there should be something good, I hope the balance it out with a Holy sword of some sort ...

Yea I like the sound of it as well because I mean there are probably alot of other aspects we aren't aware of, but the fact that these swords could play a major role in the game's story sounds pretty interesting.

Damn my impatience can't wait till e3 or the game's release and practically spoiled some good stuff I didn't want to find out yet regarding balder.

I wont post that stuff here though because I'm almost 100% sure what I found out about balder will play a major role in the game I'll just try to forget about it :)

At this point I want this game more than any game ever only matched by halo 3 and sakaguchi's games. I'm without a doubt getting all of these games including mass effect etc, but if I ever entered a store where all games were available and I didn't have enough money to get them all I'd probably get too human.

New too human article.

"Too Human looks to be an intriguing meld of full-on action with RPG elements, designed with the philosophy that it should be accessible to both action game newcomers and veteran joystick jockeys.

And surprisingly enough, it is. By having the game's intelligent camera follow the action on its own, players don't have to worry about controlling the camera viewpoint. That frees up the Xbox 360 controller's right thumbstick to be used to execute melee attacks in any direction, while the left and right triggers control Baldur's auto-targeting firearms.

It's instantly intuitive and a heck of a lot of fun. After just half an hour of playing a demo level of Too Human, I was able to wade into a horde of foes, casually flipping some into the air with my sword and then blasting them to pieces with my dual pistols before they hit the ground.

Rack up enough combo kills, and Baldur can unleash a devastating attack like the Howl Of Fenrir, which sees him plunge his sword into the ground to trigger a powerful shockwave, then fire his pistols out to the sides in blinding arcs of hot lead that obliterate nearby enemies. "

It's cyberpunk meets Beowulf, with gameplay that's a melding of Devil May Cry and Diablo.

Diablo :D

Plus I love the fact that you can have a massive warhammer :) You remember tha too human trailer that showed the action from those cinematic angles? Those are real camera angles in the game as you are playing it.

I only just realised that the game isn't based on Norse mythology, it IS Norse mythology being played out in a futuristic past that was lost when Ragnarok happened!

Talk about slow on the uptake! :(
