2006-09-27 14:38:01 DOOM (by ID) coming to Marketplace

Doom will be available on the Xbox Live Marketplace for 800 points. Visuals get an HD upgrade and Sound will be 5.1 Surround. Four Players will be able to play Coop-Campaign or battles over Xbox Live.

No word on a release-date yet.

Chances are yes--but honestly they could atleast try to match Zdaemon's feature set :)

I guess this is another opertunity to pimp a badass classic--and free--PC game. Sort of wish it was somewhat cheaper--or atleast included both Doom and Doom 2--Zdaemon is available for 0 MS points and will play Heretic, as well as modded WAD's--like CTF, etc.

Still think this is great, some people just want to play their games on a console, regardless of what it is or how much it makes sense :)

I'd buy Marathon too--and that whole Trilogy is also free (for mac and PC).

About time they announced it. I heard this direct from the horses mouth well before GC ( http://www.xboxyde.com/forum_8_13781_1_en.html ) but couldn't really say anything :D

They certainly didn't say they were giving it an upgrade at the time though.

also..isn't this playable on the Xbox 1 version of Doom 3 (as a pack in for the LE)? Guess it's not backwards compatable?

Might be a FPS on a console that I can actually fully enjoy since you only need to aim left & right in it.. LOL! ;)

Anyway, I think 800 points is to expensive for such a old game, sorry.. 400 points maybe, but not 800..

P.s. for the people that don't know, full 3D (mouse)look was introduced in Quake..

Build engine games (another "fake" 3D engine--of Blood and Duke Nukem fame) had full mouse look..though Quake was the first true 3D engine FPS.

I agree that the pricing is off on this one, especially if it only includes Doom 1--but it seems people are willing to shell out 800 pts for it--so that's what we're getting. I think it's especially expensive for a game that can be had (including support for more players) for totally free (legally).

The demo is sort of a joke--the FIRST LEVEL? Oh come on guys--it should be the whole very first chapter! Honor the damn shareware atleast...geez.

I'm really on the fence with this game, I want it...but I feel like I'm being had.

I mean shit I had a hard enough time reasoning the purchase of hyper fighting, simply because I already own a live enabled SF2 and I'm still sorta pissed it's not backward compatable.

EDIT: Oh, and the achievements are a joke too.
