I'll start off by quoting my own demo impressions.
I was pretty dazzled by how it all looked when I played it, and I'm intrigued by the rythm based fighting.

Too bad they mowed over a game I loved in the process, and too bad I can't stand the music in it to the point where I can "learn the beat to win the game!" as they suggest I do. Which is a fantastic idea, and I applaud it! But it's the wrong genre of music for me.

Oh yeah, and it's on top of a game that was doing just fine without it. Grr.
And add that I just finished watching this week's "On The Spot" (brill show, every gamer should watch it) and they showed off.... wait for it... The custom soundtrack feature of the game! :O

:O :O :O

They had Depeche Mode on whilst beating eachother silly.

Now, what a lot of people don't know is that this game is rythm based and BASED ON THE MUSIC THAT'S PLAYING. Therefore I naturally assumed that the custom soundtrack feature would be gone. Not so at all, the game actually adapts to your own playlist, has a full fledged story mode plus a character creation feature just like the previous Def Jams.

I'm off to pre-order this, but first I wanna salute EA for not forcefully using the game as a lobby for rap music this time either, and for creating the first music based fighting game on the market.

Roll on march.. er.. yo!

Love on the spot, and the hotspot, but man...

Gamespot just isn't the same without Kasavin :(

Too many games headed this way too soon for me to even worry about Def Jam, but I'll be interested to see your impressions when the game ships.

Yeah, it's like its soul left with Kasavin.. But I have faith. I mean Rich is so funny, and Jeff can be funny too when he's not busy being an asshole. Oh and Alex of course.

Hopefully Greg is a guest on On The Spot whenever C&C3 is ready for some realtime showing off. :)

He's moved on to bigger and hopefully better things--the guy was just so damn good at his job though. He should really keep writing.

Alex is funny, Jeff? He can be, but mostly he's being an asshole like you said Simon. He also gave Crackdown a 7.8 for incredibly stupid reasons! He's a major GTA fan though, understandable? Perhaps, but Gamespot should of given the review to someone else.

Now, how does the custom soundtrack change the sluggish gameplay Simon? Does it suddenly become responsive when another track is being played?

How is it music based? The environments move with the beat, but your guy is still a sluggish mofo. I guess I'll go watch on the spot.

Wait, I went to watch it and it showed Guitar Hero for 360, or was that last week's?
EDIT: Nevermind, they linked me to the wrong one. It's fixed now.

Ok, I just watched the show and I have to say I don't see any changes, to me it's the same sluggish "fighting" game. It's as bad as before, it's just that a different song plays as you do, big deal. Meh, Simon just went crazy!........I suggest you play the demo again, I don't see how a change of music can change the opinion you had when you made those statements on your quote.
