Well it is common sense but it evades most people, Like when people saw the first screens of Halo 3 or the first screens of Forza 2.

I think people have good reason to pick faults when devs promise us the earth and only give us 90% of it :P

Less people to shread here, and besides a pics a pic, you look at it and make an opinon on what you see. (it's human nature)

It's hardly bashing though, I wish people would stop beating that dead horse, it's starting to smell.

Bottom line is that Sony shouldn't have promised us so much, less people would have been dissapointed and expectations wouldn't be so high.

Bring on KillZone is all i can say :)

The reality is that screenshot is a shit comparison because the muzzle flash saturates the colour and shadows to hell. Even textures look murkier as a result, and what more - the screenshot doesn't even convey the fact that a muzzle flash is illuminating the character.

The fact that it's being used as a comparison at all is indeed about PS3 bashing, because even the creator of that split screen knows how unfair it is and made it just to put the PS3 in a bad light. Literally.

Of course... ok for that, I will take into consideration the saturation the shadowing and the illumination, I still think it looks a lot worse than the target trailer.

Or does the camera also change the way i see the textures and 2D vegatation ?

Yes, make this about the vegetation barely visible in the shot, make it out to not be about trying to have the 3D model, its shadows and textures be the focus of the comparison shot by a feeble attempt at placing the model similarly for "side by side"-ness. :)

But yeah, if the 2d leaves in the background ruin it for you then okay.

Um well you say people are bashing, but seems to me you are desperately trying to counteract that.

At the end of the day this game could turn out to be amazing, but based on those pics, (yes yes , blah blah) I don't think it lives up to the trailer by a long shot.

My opinions are based on the pics in this thread because that is all we have to go on, I am allowed that opinion.

I tell ya what i'm getting slightly pissed that people can't have an opinion around here without getting into some ridiculous debate about the quailty of screen captures or being accused of bashing.

When i see better screens or video i will take what i said back, until then i am intitled to my opinion.

Based on the screens , the game looks a lot worse then the trailer and that's a fact! saying it looks about about 90% of that trailer released before is just sad. this is barely 50% of it. Besides the game looks like Circle of Doom right now!

I think people are over reacting a bit, is all. You would think by now that people would know how to manage their own expectations, given how other early games have gone through developement (CG trailer = instant let down, even if the game looks great). I think that the point some people are trying to make is more about Sony's misdirection in the matter..which is a valid point but it's also a point that has been beaten to death.

I think people should wait for some more screenshots before judging Uncharted so harshly. The developer has a lot of experience creating beautiful games given some pretty hefty limitations, so I expect as much out of them in this generation as well. As fas as it being 90% of the trailer, that may not be true, but it's a hell of a lot closer than say Motorstorm to its original trailer.

The biggest difference I can see here (between the CG and the actual software) mostly comes down to image quality. If you actually go back over the original trailer it seems like they were tyring to use game assets--there are some pretty low resolution textures there too. The biggest loss of texture detail in the new screenshot seems to be his belt buckle--which isn't exactly a big deal.

My only issue in this thread is the fact that it's already been discussed, and its origin is not suprising on either occation, either.

People come here from XY and post pics to "prove" negative things about the PS3 all the fucking time. This isn't about opinion, it's about an awfully irritating trend that I'd personally would like to see stop. Most of the people that come here with the anti sony stuff - true as it may be sometimes! - don't have ANYTHING invested in the platform or its games, while people that are here are actually trying to become a community with a nice, goodhearted atmosphere.

The numerous attempts to thwart that are getting tiresome, and yet people seem to even point to the lack of fans around PSY and make that out to be about the PS3 being the lesser console aswell!

I'm sorry that you got caught in the crossfire, my beef isn't with you.

Of course! Jolli, you're not the guy who posted a picture from Circle of Doom, that was me and I did it as a simple freaking comparison and Didnt mean anything by it but it seems using anyting Xboxy in here is considered a crime!

Never mind, from now on, I wont be posting anything related to PS3 because clearly speaking your opinion and using Xbox examples as arguments makes you a fanboy no matter what you say .....

Well in the interest of fairness such a thing has never stopped people from being critical of Forza 2 or Halo 3. Not trolling, but I think it made sense here. The current state of this game's graphics I don't really have a problem with. Yes some things were toned down, but its all good if the game looks good and plays well who cares :)

And as always games will look much better in motion.
