Seriously, those shockingly realistic screenshots are absolutely true to the in-game graphics. We seen it and played it. The scenic detail in Colin McRae: Dirt is astonishing. Playing it on a sweet 40-inch HD TV, we could see every blade of grass in the thick forestry that lines the dirt tracks as we raced along.

When you drive on the grass you can see it bend as it folds down underneath your car. Look behind you and you'll see the grass remain compressed as you drive away. It's not that there's never been nice grass in games before, it's the sheer amount of it that's impressive. The grass is so thick it forms a gorgeous furry texture that covers the banks.
It all sounds pretty impressive.

Dirty preview?

And, " Our only reservation is that these super visuals come at the expense of the frame rate - at 30 frames per second it's noticeable choppier than the usual 60fps-slickness of 360 games."

I don't think he was serious was he?

Anyways, I heard a lot of graphics talk but that's all. A few words on gameplay is not enough. And since it was all about graphics, without any new screens or gameplay videos I feel like going crazy, I really do want to see this game running and of course, whenever possible a demo :D

Where the crap is Shenmue 3 SEGA? Scrap that thing called Shenmue online and finish the Shenmue epic story on 360!

30 fps is fine with me as long as it does not chug along i found PGR 3 fine. Cant wait to see this in action and some good signs from the review mainly on graphics it certainly looks superb in screens. Liked the bit where he bent the metal barrier and could be a potential hazard the damage sounds very realistic from that report also. :)

Good signs coming out from the game bring on the videos please. :)

Thanks for the link.
PGR was fine IMO, as long as you have blur... This one looks more arcady than sim, so 30 fps shall not be a hell of a problem, shall it ?

It all comes down to the what kind of sense of speed the game gives you. I get a pretty good sense of speed from PGR3 and F1 and they are 30fps, but GTHD at 60 I get almost no sense of speed what so ever, just seems to plod along slowly. If they get the sense of speed down then 30fps shouldn't matter much.

Rally on the TV looks pretty damn fast at 25fps, as long as the controls are tight it will be fine.

ROTFLOL. Seriously, what a silly comment. The 360 has what, 2 racers (RR6 and Burnout) that are 60fps and all the others are 30fps? And most games in general are struggling at 30fps... sheesh.

DIRT Looks good, but gameplay will be the question. Also, while rally games are cool it seems there is a general lack of Motorstorm like rally games (the PGRs of the rally world). Could we get some more of these?

You need to stop thinking and find some damn info instead :P

I think both are going to be killer racinggames anyway.

And yet one of the things you can count on in this world is that people will always insist on comparing apples and oranges.

Ironic really. :)

I thought they were both Rally games.

Comparing Burnout to Colin Mc Rae would be apples to oranges would it not?

People compared Rallisport Challenge and Colin McRae all the time, and since a Sega Rally hasn't been released in years, then how is it that they can't be compared. No one has played a build of Sega Rally. There is no knowing yet if it is going to be more realistic or not.
