2007-07-07 00:28:14 Collier: Well, we’ve always been huge fans of co-op and have always wanted to do it, but we’ve always been biting off so much—we bite off huge amounts—like when we had Call of Duty 2 a launch title for 360. Now, with the entire change to modern warfare and the total revamping of the technology, whenever we set out to do something we want to do it really, really well. We want to do co-op, but we want to do it really, really well. I’m not going to comment on the future, but we’re fans of it and anything we do we want to do really, really well. Running at 60 frames per second while you have these gorgeous graphics and a lot of explosions going on and a lot of options is very important. It always has to be running at 60 frames per second. Currently, the way we have it balanced now, the first three kills that you get, you unlock an overhead spy plane that will scan the map. But then you have the UAV spy plane scan the entire map, and for like 30 seconds you can see on the radar where all the bad guys are. That’s what you get for three. You basically get it on your D-pad, and once you get it you hold onto it and can use it at your leisure. People can say, “Hey, there’s someone behind me, and I can’t see them. Does anyone have their UAV up?” and I can say, “Yeah, I’ve got mine,” and I can pop it and say, “I see that they’re moving up on me, and I need backup.” After UAV, when you have a five-kill streak, you can get an airstrike, where you get some fighters that fly over the map and drop bombs on the map. Once you get the seven-kill streak, you’re able to call in an attack helicopter that comes in and supports your guys and roams the map and racks up kills for you. So you’re getting credit for this attack helicopter coming in and smoking people. Collier: We’re currently shooting for super high-end Direct X 9. Looks great, as usual.. but it really sounds great as well. There are about 30 weapons in multiplayer, and "a gazillion" in the campaign. Can't wait to see a list. Oh, and stun grenades. NICE. |

CoD2 on the PC was a crappy engine port from the Xbox 360 version, it ran like crap in DX9 even on high-end PC's at the time of release.. |
