Man, I wish I could go see that BlueRayMan Group one day. People say they aren't needed, but I beg to differ.

The new trailer is the awesome, btw.

I don't have a problem with it, just felt I needed to get it out of the way before someone else took the honors :p

Besides, after watching the trailer, I don't see how anyone could complain :)

Yeah I dont mind switch discs, on an rpg you only need to switch the discs so far between discs and so little.

LMAO, not that was just ridiculous, especially when you zoned into the wrong area and had to switch a disc just to go back to where you came from.

Well, American developers dont seem to have the same fetish for over the top CGI movies, like Japanese developers. Personally, I don't care if they use the game engine for the cutscenes, as long as the same amount of time is put into the story, as I'm sure it will with Mass Effect, though I am wondering with Lost Odyssey (only a bit, but a bit none the less).
Call me crazy, but I find extravagent CGI movies take me out of the game just as much as disc switching, and it is just as antiquated, the graphics are already purty, I don't care about prettier movie moments, we aren't playing on a PS for christ sake!
I'm still going to buy the game, and disc swapping is no big a deal, but I'd rather disc swap cause the game is 1,000 hours long instead of to see some pointless HD CGI movies.

Except of course one of the most successful western developers is also known for their CGI, Blizzard.

Haha, except Blizzard usually has a grand total of around 10 minutes of CGI in each of their games, and I may be mistaken, but I believe I remember hearing them say that a lot of the story elements for Starcraft 2 is going to be rendered in engine.

I don't see how pre-rendered CG is pointless anyway. Personally I like seeing CG in some games. I wish NG2 could have HD CG.. the CG in NG1 was freaking excellent. It's not like we've reached the point where in game engines can match pre-rendered video.. I'm not sure that will ever happen.

Now granted, there's a smoother transition from cinema to gameplay when you do use the in game engine.. but in some cases, it hardly matters.

Well I remember Sakaguchi said that Blue Dragon had a seperate team working on the CGI (maybe this is the same), which obviously cuts development time, if all the cutscenes had to be done in realtime it would be more work for the programmers.

This is true, and I think people are forgetting the last TGS with the demo, the CGI merged staight into gameplay and it was almost seemless.

Same thing with Blue Dragon really, there was a difference, but not big enough to pull someone out of the experience.

4 discs, holy hell, i thought we left that behind back in the psone days.

a lot of people complain about long loading times due to it breaking immersion (me included)...changing discs is even worse.

seems blu-ray isnt as pointless as most *cough* xbox fanboys *cough* thought.

i really dont like the look of the game either. i think this is gonna be another dissapointment just like blue dragon.
