Final Fantasy XIII announced for Xbox 360?!! Talk about random!

for a game that sells good in north america or so i have head, it makes perfect sense to put the game on one of the most selling console and high attach rate of game purchase. it would be foolish alienate youself from pontential and big audience of xbox 360 owners in north america

I feel this applies to this situation. Most reasoned people would see the good in SE releasing the game on both formats but some people who lack braincells and who can't even count to the number 7 take it very personally.

I dont know about you but i think Sony is employing IDIOTS! sure he's PR spinning/downplaying it but my god, spin/downplay it at least in a reasonably acceptable manner that the human brain can swallow.

As far as history goes, GTA titles on the PS2 sold each more than 10 million. The 360 has eaten more than 60% of that. We'll talk about FF13 in 2009/2010 but I am seeing a similar scenraio happening at least in the US, less likely in europe but the 360 version will still eat into the PS3 hardware sales bump even in europe!

Personally, I was going to buy a PS3 for FF13, now I dont have to, yet.

GTA was a MASSIVE announcement at the time, but as a western based game you knew it had to happen, FXIII is even bigger and more of a shock, this is just more bad damage control from the Sony camp.

What i find more interesting is that SE are using the PC as the main development platform (and its playable on the pc now), then basically porting to the PS3 and 360!

Final Fantasy is important, because it has appeal to girls, which is not something covered by MS at all, but other than that it's not a huge franchise anymore (though you never know, it may make a comeback). Good to know there'll be a PC version as well, but I'm not interested in the game anyway.

Funny if MS actually didn't pay them all that much. Square is a business company just like all the others. They're looking to recieve profit.

As for FFXIII:Versus, looks like it might be coming to the 360 as well. It's also coming to PC, so it looks like Square is taking the Capcom route.

These tools allow development teams to create cross-platform games.

Didn't people say Versus was using a completely different engine built specifically for the ps3?

Of course it'll be multiplatform as well, Squeenix just didn't announce it yet in order to not piss Sony off too much. :)

I really don't think that MS had to pay up for FF. The games attach rate on the 360 is so high it's a nobrainer to release the game on both platforms to make huge profits. The development of the game is not a bargain either, propably one of the most expensive games ever made.

Its as huge a franchise as it ever was FF12 first weeks sales topped 1.8 million in Japan, and worldwide its sold something like 5 million to date.

To put that in context GTA4 has sold about 5 million on the 360 to date, so its still a very successful franchise, and FF games sell just as well as they used to.

FF13 could turn out being one of the biggest selling FF games of all time, especially if it comes to PC aswell.

Yes there are plenty of 5M+ but I was simply saying FF is still a big franchise, you made it sound like people had lost interest.
