2008-08-14 06:21:50 I don't think they're that broken at all. Cervy and Kilik players online aren't that difficult. Most of them are actually pretty easy to beat, because, like you've said, they're not actually that good. Kilik spammers are a joke. I don't even think he's especially good online, it's just effective enough to beat enough people, that they keep at it. They're easy enough to defend against, and most of them have no defensive play at all.. making them so easy to punish that it's silly. |

IMO I still think that the gameplay is indeed broken in too many ways. Maybe they're not very noticeables but they still in there. Hopefully average players don't seem to notice it. I am enjoying the game so far and I have hardly seen the edit player mode wich loooks to me really deep. Great game so far. It should have some more game options (like a tag mode for two players) but overall is a good package. Lets see if those rumors that points that Namco is porting Tekken 6 to Xbox 360 are for real, because this SC IV has done a good job for the Xbox 360 in sales terms. |

2008-08-15 07:58:34 There may be issues, but Kilik and Cervy aren't. Seriously, if you're losing to Kilik spammers online, you need to re-evaluate your approach. There's nothing they do that can't be dealt with quite easily. His moves are slow and easy to predict, and easy to punish. |

2008-08-15 21:11:40 The second last mission in tower mode is really hard. I could manage it if the AI wouldn't switch so often. --- |

You only need 30 chests, if you want that achievement. Otherwise, don't even bother. |

2008-08-15 21:30:51 In reply to GriftGFX (2008-08-15 21:15:38) I am going to try that Astaroth trick next time I play. Hmm that move is probably hard to do with pad but at least I only need one direction. --- |

2008-08-15 21:32:22 In reply to Isomac (2008-08-15 21:30:51) Good. You literally don't need anymore. Once you reach 30 achievements/honors, all that equipment can be purchased for gold from the character creation menu anyway. A couple of pimped out Astaroths makes every single player mode a piece of cake. |

2008-08-17 13:54:41 Okay, my gold subscription ran out tonight, so I decided instead of going back online right away, I'd finally get around to knocking out that last achievement. I farmed Algol for a bit, and bought the rest of the weapons.. so.. |

2008-08-17 18:03:51 Just bought it and I think it's an incredible game. Loving Tiras fighting style best so far. Thought it wasn't very fluid at first I learned some good combos fast, they look incredible. Mastering the characters feels very rewarding, in contrary to DOA where you can chain up incredible combos in just 5 mins playing. |

2008-08-17 21:14:13 Just start getting honors/achievements--by the time you get 30, all gear will be available for purchase at the character creation menu. Tira is pretty cool, she's a lot better from what I've seen in SC4 than she was in SC3. Big improvement. |

2008-08-18 03:46:46 Is it possible to bring your custom character with you and play on a friend's console somehow? |
| GriftGFX He can also ban your ass! Since 1168 Days |
2008-08-18 03:50:37 Bring your hard drive. That's it. You can't copy your customs to another profile--on either console. It's a bummer, I know. But hey--just get him to 100% his game, and you can remake your favorite customs on his! :/ |

2008-08-18 04:14:36 Yeah I played it some on a mate's PS3 and I'm enjoying it far more than I thought I would to be honest. I'm pretty much just fishing for info on what version to get, and the main incentive for me to get the PS3 version would've been if we could somehow pit our characters against one another on the same system. |

2008-08-18 04:19:20 Yeah, the Xbox 360 d-pad is horrible.. though I must admit, I wouldn't want to play without a stick on either platform. Check out the Hori SC4 branded stick, it should do the trick. It's available on both the Xbox 360 and the PS3. I've owned various versions of Hori's EX stick, and they're great. Arcade quality? Eh, maybe not quite, but damn close enough that you probably won't be able to tell the difference. |

On the other hand, Hori Real Ex Pro is probably the closest in quality to the arcades, since it is made with arcade parts (buttons and stick) but it is really expensive and only sold in Japan. I own 3 Hori Ex 2 Sticks and they perform really good till now. Anyway I am planning on getting the Real Ex Pro, but for now I am quite happy with my 3 sticks (Kokoro version, VF5 20th anniversary and SC IV :P) Edit: By the way if you haven't noticed yet there is already donwloadable content in the marketplace. You can download the original OST to be listened in your Xbox 360 for only 1200 MS Points (yes a real rip off since you can put it in an usb memory and upload it to your 360) and two accesory pack for 200 MS Points wich they are not real downloadable content, but instead keys that will let you acces to blocked content on the disc (here we go again, Namco the greedy company). |

2008-08-18 08:26:41 The OST gets integrated into the game, and adds previous Soul Calibur music to SCIV. I don't think it's worth it, personally, but I think you're misinterpreting how it's meant to be used? There's an option in the game to configure DLC music for use in game. I don't see that as much of a value, since the original music for SCIV is typically excellent. |

2008-08-18 21:12:33 Damn some of these justframes are almost impossible to pull of. I even struggle to do 4A JF A consitendly, not even thinking about integrating it into a 88B, 4A JF a combo... |

2008-08-20 02:47:33 Ok, I switched to Cervantes. Tira is very fun to play but the only way you can go berserk with her is when she's in gloomy mood, but that means taking damage with every hit, even if it's blocked. Cerv on the other hand is almost as fast as Tira, got some very good long range attacks, decent damage with none of the drawbacks of Tira. He's also pretty interesting with his teleports/launches, altho they aren't as usefull/unballanced as Ryu in DOA4... |

2008-08-20 04:13:19 Cervy is good, and pretty accessible. I'm trying to add some variety to my roster and having trouble finding a good fit. My Cassy has been consistently improving since I picked up the game, and I don't know, maybe I'm expecting results more quickly than I should with other characters. I'm messed around with Amy a little bit (236 owns) and Hilde, but I'm not sure if I'll stick with either. |

The character I can't stand with it is Yoda. Not only he doesn't fit in SC universe, but he is continous jumping hits make me nervous He looks more like a monkey than a fighter. As for repetitive gameplay, we knew before hand that it was going to happpen in some way since Namco fighting games have also relied on it, is VF 5 is really tough to beat since it is a pretty solid game. |

2008-08-20 08:11:18 Oh I know that's what we were expecting, and in some ways, I feel like the solo aspirations of Soul Calibur IV may even exceed expectation. It's just sad that it takes so little to satisfy those expectations. We should be more demanding, as an audience, now that there's a better example of how things could be done. Critics and gamers alike should take up Sega's example, which in some ways takes a step backwards in VF5, and still manages to go above and beyond other games in the genre. |

2008-08-21 08:01:29 Hey Grift give me a damn tip please. I finally played SC IV online, for quite a while actually. --- |
| GriftGFX He can also ban your ass! Since 1168 Days |
2008-08-21 09:31:54 Though it may be difficult to do online, if someone literally does the same move, over and over again, it becomes really easy to GI it every time. I haven't encountered anyone who literally just does that single move with Cervantes over and over again, but I have encountered plenty of people who attempt to use one move over and over again online. It's frustrating, but once you know how to defeat it, they're cake. |

2008-08-21 19:00:24 Awesome, I hope that works. Will try it later on in the day. It was very frustrating, it happened in two fights, two different people. Hopefully that punishment is a grab! Thanks. --- |

2008-08-22 00:56:54 Cervantes has very few bread and butter moves, that can make him tricky as soon as you fight faster opponents and loose initiative. But else he's a great combo machine and these moves you talk about are easy to pull off. Looks more spectacular than it actually deals damage actually. |
