For the first 30 seconds or som I was wondering what IRAIPT0IR was creaming his pants over, but the second half of it made me sit in my chair in complete and utter awe. The CGI is absolute genius - up there with the best I've ever seen - and the action looked spectacular.

Colour me interested Cameron. You have redeemed yourself after sending me to sleep at Ubisoft's E3 conference.

I haven't seen it. I refuse to be forced to install that crappy player. :p

I found it elsewhere though, some shady russian site. Seem like the trailer's been pulled everywhere else...

Edit: Watched it, and the CG is very impressive. Not sure what to think of it otherwise, I'm not really into the whole 'elves thing' and all. Will keep an eye out for it though...

I don't much like the design of the Na'vi. They definitely come off as forgettable.

Agreed. They don't even look particularly convincing to me. WETA makes some nice stylized artistic CGI, but when it comes to realism ILM has it hands down.

I'm sure the movie will still look absolutely fantastic though in 3D on a big screen. If it weren't a James Cameron movie though, I wouldn't be interested in it at all. I mean, even the story isn't all that original from what I've gathered. The avatar device aside, it looks like... guy meets natives-->guy is gradually warmed up to by natives-->guy now chooses to fight his own kind. That's not all that exciting to me given that I don't find the Na'vi compelling to look at. Also, I really hope Sam Worthington steps up his game...his accents in Terminator:Salvation were laughable.

Ah well, at least there are mechs.

its looks beautiful. as for the story, this is the man behind terminator, titanic, aliens. it may be not original but some james cameron finds a way to balance action character development and plot

Only seen the trailer, but it looks awfully alot like videogame cutscenes to me. And I also dont like the navi design as other people already said. But I will see it of course. Wonder if the imax in stockholm will show it?!? But what the hell, its Cameron. I believe!

Dear god it looks like every fucking game out there the past 6 years, after 20 or 30 years in production 200 million budget so far and over 1000 people working on it up to this time.. and with everyone saying it was going to revolutionize the way we watch movies (from lucas to tarantino) this is what we get, a cgi movies with aliens vs space marines... wow..

To be fair, it's been in production for something like four years...or six..something like that.

If i could find the link i would but it was from Empire interview with james cameron and he been tinkering with it for about 20 odd years, only started 100% production few years back due "only now possible" about 2-3 months ago the mag was.

He conceived the idea something like 14-20 years ago. That's hardly the same as it being in production.

And I'm with TheBeagle on this one. Can't really say how it'll look one way or another until witnessing it in 3d on a big screen.

I don't think that's true at all. I suspect this movie will be just as good in 2D as it is in 3D. The assertion that it's not original because it's, "Aliens Versus Space Marines" is hilarious. Not only is James Cameron the man who introduced us all to Aliens Versus Space Marines, but that's such a vague critique that it's pretty damn hollow. There's obviously a lot more going on in Avatar than simply a way between humans and aliens. There's the whole Avatar experiment, for one, which will lead to some bigger inner conflicts for the casts lead characters. Make no mistake, this movie will blend action and drama pretty heavily. Having heard Cameron's synopsis, I think this sounds like pretty dang original material.

Then again, the prospect of this being a romantic sci-fi action flick may be enough to turn some people away immediately.

Not me. Bring it, Cameron.

Cameron seems pretty psyched about the 3d...so I'm willing to bet that's going to be a huge part of the overall experience of the movie. My comment was more a "don't judge the whole movie based on a trailer you're watching on your monitor" kind of thing.

The aliens versus space marines isn't the unoriginal aspect I was talking about. The fact that the movie's overall plot seems generally close to something like The Last Samurai...or many other movies for that matter...is what makes it a tad clichéd. Hopefully, the avatar stuff will introduce some interesting story elements into the flick though.

yeah.. right
A: fuck going to cinemas and listning to everyone eat
B: Bollox to paying cinema costs
C: Suck my balls on wasting my time on 3d
D: And majorly eat my arse out when it comes to a other Mariens vs Aliens fight

But on a side note i never said it was going to be crap, i just was let down by the fact its well.. what i said i was expecting more.

In the end i will watch it on blue ray on my own set up naked eating cheetos on full blast with the air of the sub keeping the sweat from forming round my ring... and i will most probably fully enjoy it
But like i said i expected more.

It wouldn't be so bad if Cameron hadn't shit all that nonsense down our throats (see nightmare Ubisoft presentation at E3). Maybe he'll make Peter Molyneux look like the most honest man in the world when this comes out.
