Speaking on IMAX
Have you guys seen how pre-existing theaters try to put in an "Imax" theater but it's just a slightly wider screen

There's a place near me that was built for it so it's like this fucking engulfing square screen with a vertical seating that makes you almost dizzy of heights.
It is the best.

Yeah, that's a REAL Imax screen. The others are the new retrofitted theaters. They then arrange the seating so that the screen is closer to the audience so they won't be able to distinguish the size of the screen. The real screen should be no smaller than 50ft tall- 72ft wide. The second tier is 60ft tall - 82ft wide and so on. For example the Lincoln Square IMAX theater here in NY is 80ft tall and 100ft wide. They usually have straight isles (although some have been known to have curved isles) and very steep seating arrangements. The screens are so huge that they can only seat 300-500.

IMAX doesn't even deny the existence of the smaller screens. Even as they charge people full price for them.

More interesting than what you thought of it, are the trailers representing the quality of the content of the movie?

The trailers are really inaccurate honestly.
The trailers made me think the ghosts were super goofy, which they largely weren't. Most of them look pretty realistic, and a lot of scenes were actually kinda scary like the original. My wife hid her face in my arm a few times
I really enjoyed the humor in it surprisingly. I think the trailer tried too hard to be like hey this movie's funny trust us! Yes there are some misses but most of the jokes are great

Some other complaints you might hear around the internet - the cameos are pretty touching, they aren't bad or phoned in.

I think a lot of the bad reviews it's gotten are dwelling too much in the past honestly. It deserves to at least be in the mid to high 80's on RottenTomatoes.

The one real complaint I have about the trailer is they actually kinda spoil quite a few scenes in the movie. It sucks to be watching and you're like "oh here comes that part!"

Sath and Aphex are asking me about cameos in the what's up so I'm going to post that info here!
If you don't want to know these spoilers please don't highlight.

Ghostbusters cameos are as follows:

Murray is in it, and I don't know if you asked for this but the entire cast makes an appearance separately at different points. They even do something special for Ivan Reitman.
None of them have a major role, they're really brief, but it's really sentimental to see them in a Ghostbusters universe again imo.
Be aware too that none of them are their former characters. Akroyd plays a taxi driver for instance.
There's an irony in Murray's character as well as he sort of takes the role of Walter Peck from the original

Numerical grades are so fucked now. Everyone operates on the IGN scale, where 8 is passable, 7 is horrendous and 6 is cancer in your ass and balls simultaneously. You know that there is a number 1 through 5 available to score things as well right? A 5/10 should mean it's ok, 8.5 should mean it's fucking excellent and will probably be remembered for generations.

That said i'm still very sceptical about this movie. None of the gags in any of the trailers made me laugh, at all. Just not my type of humor i guess.

To be fair the gags have a hard time when they're pulled from their context and get a second to make you laugh during a trailer montage
Also the trailers were so bad like I said. They're really misleading

Saw the movie REVENGE - if you like grindhouse style movies then you should scope it out for sure.
Really stylized and well shot. Super violent so beware

Saw an artsy film called November last month. Reallllllllllly f'ing weird. Made in Estonia.

Also I dug Annihilation a few months back speaking of mind trip weirdness. Really cool visuals, and a great job with the original story

I just rewatched Avengers End Game for the nth time now and I still love it. It's really amazing and I never grow tired of it. The ending never fals to amaze me and make me cry. It's really great. I remember watching in the cinema and bawling my eyes out there. Sad we can't go to cinemas today. Glad there's netflix.

Lots of movies are either complete rip offs of others or are just changed a bit, I’m wondering what you’ve seen that had a unique premise/was a fresh breath of cinema which you enjoyed. Personally I love Orphan, Law Abiding Citizen and Reservoir Dogs because they are movies I feel like I haven’t seen a thousand times before. I know a few movies but they are far and in between so I’m wondering if anyone has any suggestions?
