I would recommend to turn vignette off. It's pretty much border that creates darker areas to corners. I dunno maybe someone likes the effect but imo it's the most useless thing ever :P

If you do changes to user.ini you need to change the file to read only or the game will overwrite the setting you choosed. At least it did that for me in the original version.

Sharpenning makes the textures look more detailed but at the same time it can look weird too.

Fantastic, you're a lifesaver. That tweak guide is awesome and just what I wanted before I grabbed this thing. I'm probably going to buy it today. Where do you guys recommend I get it from? Should I get the Steam version or what? I want whichever one gives me the least amount of trouble with any configurations or updates that I need to do.

Actually, steam seems like it would be the easiest path. Steam it is.

Playing it again with the Enhanced Edition patch, but to be honest i'm still having the same problems with the game. Level up the Quen sign and you become unstopable. Aside from the kinda broken combat it's still a good game though, no doubt :P

That's the reason why I am not using it at all. Combat is just not very good but at least it's better than the first games (or Elder Scrolls very boring combat) click mouse button thingy :D

Inventory starts to be a pain in the ass when you get more stuff. Otherwise very good game. I love it.

Inventory is crap and the combat is kinda "meh". I actually prefer it in Witcher 1, even though it's kinda broken in that game as well. Get the "do a shit ton of damage on burning foes" thing for your sword swinging, level up the fire signto ignite pretty much every time and bam, everything dies in the blink of an eye :P

I generally prefer Witcher 1 over 2 though. I suppose the story is a bit easier to follow and certainly better executed in 2 but i don't know, the first game just nails the feeling in a way that 2 fails to do. And i'm still pissed off about the XP ratios in witcher 2...i mean do the Endrega contract in the first village, 100 xp! You just worked your butt off to kill those sons of bitches, here have a tenth of a level. Kill the Kayran, which is basically a big QTE that you nail eery time as soon as you figure the patter out, 2 levels instant! So not worth it to side quest :P

I've been playing it since yesterday, and I gotta say, I like what I see so far. Pretty impressive on a number of fronts, even though I'm still very much far from having gotten anywhere yet.

During the Tutorial, once they started throwing waves and waves of enemies at me, I got destroyed so viciously that the game, insultingly, recommended I play it on easy. However, my pride took over and I said hell no to that. I put the difficulty on hard instead. Been playing it and I feel pretty damn good about the level I chose. I also like the kind of challenge that some early fights present for me, but already know of a number of ways that things could be tipped more in my favor, but my character isn't strong enough yet to have such abilities.

I had to get use to the idea of meditating to drink potions because I really thought early on that I wouldn't need such advantages heading into combat, but I'm quickly realizing that skillful use of potions/oils is, in some ways, a necessity in this game. The game also runs pretty flawlessly on my computer. I also tried it before using that SMAA injector. Performance was just atrocious in the game without the SMAA injector. Even on super low settings, I couldn't get decent performance before using that. Right now I'm running the game on ultra settings, and it's running and looking fantastic. I also quickly learned my lesson that I needed to have v-sync on. I commonly turned that thing off in pretty much all pc games that I played, namely counter-strike and some other first person shooters, but things become way too fast without vsync on and jerky without it on.

Nah, you don't realy need to use potions and oils. The game would very much like you to think so but seriously, upgrade your signs and stamina points and you will pretty juch be immortal. When you max out the magic tree and get the Heliotrope sign it's just game over for anything that challenges you. It's hardest at first, once you unlock the more advanced skills potions become less and less important. I imagine that if you play on the ahrder settings they might be VERY useful though.

Yea, playing on hard, and only like level 2 right now, so potions are pretty helpful at this point. However, I can tell that as I become stronger, my need for them will decrease. Still, I can't deny that I like the strategy aspect of it all.

Yea, I think the game is generally very anti-button masher friendly. Or not as button masher friendly as a lot of other games. If you're not smart about how you engage enemies and what you do during combat, you can die pretty quickly. At least that's certainly been my impression.

Yeah, though i ind that generally you should try to sepparate one of them from the group, get a combo in then start kiting again. Works against most foes...even if you don't use quen. Lighting them on fire with a grenade and then kiting while their life burns away is also rathr efficient i find :P
