That IGN preview confirms what I thought, the higher difficulty levels add a whole lot more to do and punish you for not playing it as it should be played! Superb.

Guess will have to wait till tomorrow for a proper review, eg gamespot or IGN. Not saying that the game does not deserve 9.7, but seems a bit high for a launch game.
For a start the graphics are not good enough to deserve a 9.5. This leaves little room for improvement. What will they give Halo 3 or Splintercell 4?

9.7 would mean that there is little improvement possible beyond what PD0 offers. If that were the case with graphics being rather shitty at times I would reconsider buying a 360. Thankfully I consider that site to be full of it and that score being quite a bit too high.

It depends wether or not you have played the final version. Since i live in the UK its extremly hard to find any 360 kisosks so i havent even touched the controller yet. I think IGN have said that the games graphics are the best compared to all the other launch titles. A lot of the media shown show crappy screens and footage. Rare are just trying to keep the hype down so gamers will be surprised when they play the final version.

Since some of the Rare team created the original PD64 which scored 9.9 on gamespot i wouldn't be surprised if this game does extremly well. Hopefully we will hear from IGN 1UP gamespy and others to hear and see what they rate the game.

I think we're looking at mid 8's from Gamespot, personally. At the very least 7.8.

9.7 sounds like one of them "unbiased" xbox mag scores, (and I'm really hyped for this game and hope it's brill, by the way)it's frankly a quite unrealistic number. I don't even think IGN will be quite that generous.

Sure. Microsoft is sitting on a million 360s they don't deliver to retailers to create a shortage and preview games so far were on purpose far worse than the retail versions, all so people would want it more. oookkk...

i don't want to sound like a partycrasher but that 9.7 review may be a bit over the top. To be honest i played the game for 10 min and from my impressions i must say i luved it: but since i'm hearing allot of negative reactions from ign and gamespy i kinda think that 9.7 won't be given by any of the more "respected" sites... i'm not saying i wouldn't want to see them give it, cause i will probably love this game when i get it and in my opinion it's gonna be worth a 10, i just think this review may not be realistic if your the type off person who likes to critizise a game to hell.....

Duh it got a 9.7 from an XBOX site...of course they will rate it high. Wait for GS's review, at least it wont be unrealistic.

I never said it was for people to want it more, i said it was to control the hype. Halo2 was hyped up to the max (i love that game) but dissapoited many. If people have low expectations for this game then they may be surprised at what they see. (like HALO CE)So what, every rating on that site needs to be dismissed because they're xbox games?
I will also wait for the IGN, Gamespot or gamespy and see what they have to say though. Hopefully they will rate it high also as this game is the main reason i am getting a 360. Only 10days left. :)

No, its just the fact that the game will probably get a 8.5 or something on GS or IGN..1UP gave PGR3 a 10..I mean come on. They are launch titles for crying out loud, and if that got a 10, then I guess the 2nd wave of games that come out are gonna all get 10's too huh?

Critx when a ppl review a game they have to compare the game with the other game already playing and the harware they are runing this mean that the first wave of game cant be compare with the second wave of game. Lunch titles can have 10 points is they deserver it. Im not saying that PD0 deserve a 10 but i think they could reach the 9.

thats a really good score from gamespot....i'm really surprised, i guess rare managed to pull it off. 2 great rare games at launch, kameo and perfect dark zero.....
oh why do us aussies have to wait so long to get the xbox 360...i even have a HD tv , surround sound and everything haha
