Thank you very much for the info! And I belive the 80gig and the 40 gig models are come with these new "smaller" cpu's right? I found out that mine died from a motherboard faliure.. You know when it happened once, i think anyone would start to fear that this will happen twice, In 2 months i will definietly buy a new one but when it reaches the 1.5 year again i will fear very much again :D

But we'll see.. :D

Well this isn't actually related to a "yellow light of death" but it is weird...
This morning I turned on my Ps3 and it was reset to factory settings.... It came up on 578p asking if I wanted to use HDMI for video and Audio output...
Then when I did the initial setup it luckily still had my profile and PSN store games...
Still dunno why it was reset tot factory setting though???

^^ that is holding the power button down to long :D

Edit: or is it the eject button ? either way you hold one of them down for more than 2-4 seconds and it restores factory settings
(incase your like me and take it from main tv to use in bedroom on scart, only to find out its not like 360 and does NOT auto detect... so you are greeted with nothing and have to reset it)

Also i need help, the fans on my PS3 of late are going ballistic, even on menu doing squat its like a jet turbine, i have heard you can force the PS3 to blast the fans to help clear out dust
So i either have knocked that setting or need to find that setting to shoot out unwanted dust the SHIT hoover cant get :(
Any ideas >?

Hi again!

After 2 months, my fixed 60 gig PS3 died again :( This was the third time. So I am not going to mess with it again, unfortunately this is not a permanent fix. My question is: Should I buy the "old" 40 gig model (if I find one) or go with the new Slim?

Two of my friends has the 40 gig model, and they never had a problem with them. Anyone has the new model here? What are the experiences with it? Is it really that reliable ?

I found out that the high chance of my ps3 been loud is because the moist poo round the cpu has cracked and come off, after seeing a few vids on repairing this i might do it when i move house next week while i have no damn broad band :(

I heard the BR player is a bit touchy on the new models BUT we all know what drivel fanboys make up..

I am going to buy a 250 gig Slim in the weekend and I also plan to repair my old 60 gig to take a backup of all of my data on its HDD.(and to retrieve the disk that stuck inside lol) Will I be able to restore everything (installed game data, saved games, downloaded content) on the new Ps3's HDD or not?

Just swap the HDDs they are only standard Laptop HDD to my knowledge.

Edit, ignore that comment i saw the 250gig when i hit post lol

Is there a way to transfer stuff i do not know, but i suppose you could just save your save files to a USB stick, sign up using your old sign in name on the new one then just redownload everything.
