Building my gamee/movie room again soon, and was curios i could ask on avforums but thought i would let you guys help me for once

I was considering having my gear set up by me near the lazyboys but to do so would mean me having to put my hdmi leads through the walls using wall connectors, and to do this would require me buying some 18ish meter hdmis to run through my walls (my speaker cables etc are already wired up using this method)
But... do HDMI leads lose quality over long stretches over cables, i was under the impression they do, if so bollox to this idea but if not... :D

Other note http://www.play.com/Electronics/Electronics/-/285/... the amp i have my eye on, only amp to surpase this in my eyes is the yamaha http://www.richersounds.com/product/av-receivers/p... anything above these bad boys goes into bullshit mode pricetag wise http://www.richersounds.com/product/av-receivers/y...
I cant find them cheaper than the current links, but if you guys know of anything better link me so i can mooch, as for you frosty dont link me over the top crap made for multiplex cinemas...not just yet anyway lol.

Spoiler for question no longer needed, thanks

Update
EDIT: Forgot to post smegging link lol sorry

Fell in love with these, i am not having the front speakers though (floorstanders) i have others in mind so knock 650 notes off that price, but i will have two extra book speakers for my 7.1
Thing is while i am busy at work, can anyone one find this sexual kit cheaper ?

Part of what I do at work is pull cabling for different purposes including video--yet mostly data. 18 meters does not sound like a distance big enough that you'd see/hear a loss in quality. I don't know, just my opinion, let us know.

A digital signal will not degrade in quality over distances, it may loose its strength and be too weak for the receiver to pick up. So either it works with the best image/audio quality or it doesn't work, but usually you don't reach those distances in a household. Also expensive cables don't increase quality.

I'd try it out first with a vanilla HDMI cable. If it doesn't work you have to have a CAT extender.

That's just not true the way I see it. It can lose strength--and thus degrade the quality, but it's not strictly "on/off". You can lose part of the information, in the case of a digital video signal you'll see little colorful blocks (artifacts) in different parts of the screen. To me that is degraded image quality (not the best, but it still works), unless of course to you that means not working at all.

It seems digital is no less susceptible to interference and degredation than analog, just shows it differently (from what I've read... and no, that doesn't include the retarded rants on the What's Up box recently).
Of course it depends on your environment and cable length.

I'd go ahead and try it, unless it's a huge hassle to undo.

Thanks all, it will cost me about 100 notes to test it, but sod it, its worth the try :D
Will be starting it in a few months just preping gear in advance before going hell for leather on it.

As for the two amps i cant decide between the Pioneer and the Sony, i had a pioneer once... it blew up, i had a Sony amp as replacement and its lasted a fair stretch .. there is only 50 notes diffrent and the pioneer has 40watt advantage as what i can see, if anyone is bored while i am at work do you want to find me some reviews on the pioneer :) i have fully looked into the Sony and was sold, until i saw the pioneer ...

links are in first post (no not the 1.2k amp lol)

I buy all my AV cable from Blue Jeans Cable. They make great quality custom length cables for a reasonable price. If you are concerned about signal degradation, they have cables that are customized for long runs

True that, only thing worth to mention thought that quality on the cables matter for LENGHT the signal is able to be carried, By default when HDMI came out 5 meters was the top, now cheap cables are able to handle 10Meters and thats more then mayority of the peoples need for the cable length.
