So for that one screenshot that shows nothing new of the game you have to make a new thread?

Don't rush to a negative judgement. These guys make great gameplay.

There is nothing new about Haze for the moment. I think it has cool concept and great atmosphere (Sci-Fi shooter lover).
Besides that screen is old.

Well, whereas Naughty Dog seem to keep their tongue firmly in cheek and not forgetting charm with their new PS3 project, Free Radical can't really get the same nod with this. Moving from Timesplitters and Second Sight awesomeness, characters wise, this is just drab.
Hopefully it's like Resistance where the good, innovative stuff is in the actual gameplay despite it looking like a generic shooter. Proof being in the pudding, as they say.
Come to think of it, Devil being in the details is excellent next gen propaganda. :o)

it sure looks pretty but can its gameplay be any good. to me so far, it looks like a generic FPS and to be honest, the Xbox 360 has had enough FPSs already. microsoft better come up with projects to counter stuff like Devil May Cry 4 (if it's not coming to the 360) and heavenly sword (which microsoft shamelessly let go so easily).

Microsoft does have stuff to counter a game like DMC4/HS--it's called Ninja Gaiden--how quickly they forget. Yea--it's only one game, but quality comes before quantity.

I think quality is insufficient in countering style though. Xbox pretty much "HAD" Splinter Cell, and as a game it's infinitely more sophisticated than MGS. Guess what game is still pretty much winning hands down based on universe and characters alone?
I dunno, maybe people feel that Ryu's adventure is more stylish than Dante's, but I really, REALLY don't. There's no hesitation in my mind when I say that NG is the better game, but when Dante fights demons with a motorcycle it's hard not to giggle like a fangirl.
It's difficult to really find anything stylistically 100% on the Xbox platforms I feel. It's too bad Panzer Dragoon didn't find a footing, because its design seemed to really gel with the Xbox.. Beyond that there isn't much beyond Halo that's unmistakably iconic. I really don't know why that is, because it's not about a lack of quality games.
Perhaps it's because western design isn't particularly memorable. :|

I don't know Simon--I don't think it's really an East vs West thing personally--crap is crap regardless of where it comes from--people can go on and on about japanese design all they want (and, as an artist myself, I appreciate Japanese design..more their graphic design than their videogame work, though..but that's just what apeals to me..I'm also an anime nut, so yea) but then again; look at some of these failed abortions coming out of the likes of Koei and Namco (not that namco doesn't have talented artists and good art direction on SOME of their projects).
Crap is crap, regardless of where it comes from.
Then you've got games like Bioshock, or Pyschonauts...quality is also quality, regardless of where it comes from.

I see what you're saying, but I'm not sure how that counters my point. MGS and SC are both quality games, but it can be argued that SC is far more accomplished taking gameplay merits alone into account. Even so, from a design standpoint it's decidedly forgettable, muted and plain partly as a result of being likewise decidedly western in its imagery.
I'm a big SC fan, much moreso than an MGS fan (I haven't really played those games proper but certainly admire them from afar) and I obviously wouldn't wish any over the top, funky ninja cyborg antics to enter them. Partly because they need to keep their integrity as believable *real world* experiences for their heroics to have the kind of impact they do. Partly because from a character standpoint, Sam is cool because he's a real person that has survived some real shit, whereas Snake is cool because he's flipped all over rocket-firing mechs for 20 years. It's just.. they both have their place, so it's not that I'm a japanese-design-and-funky-anime-robo-orgy fascist.
It's just that.. I do believe that the japanese design philosophy inherently delivers more visually memorable experiences. Megaman is blue and fires energy balls from his arm. Over here he'd be gray and fire a beretta.
Wild generalisation - The best kind! *wink*
