It seems unbelievable, but I wont underestimate them. As much as I hate FF12, I can still look back at it and be amazed at the look of the characters and imagine what they could achieve with the power of the ps3 or 360.

They'll have an amazing engine, that's a given, but I suspect that the combination of that engine with Square's art will make it come pretty close to that shot there. Yea that shot definitely does look CG, but I won't doubt their ability to come close to that.

Megido you aren't comparing the new scans tho, the image you linked to is obviously CGI






Look at the detail in the necklace, look at the curls of hair, the first one deffinately looks like in game to me.

There is deffinately a big difference between the two and its not because its a bad scan either.

Seeing them side by side makes me believe even more that its an in-engine shot, it looks superb, but you can see it doesnt have the detail of the CG.
The eyes and the face in general doesnt have the detail or crispness of the CGI version and the hair is simplified (look at the flick of hair or the right hand side of the cgi, completely missing from the other shot.)

Jolli: the biggest difference between those two images is that one is a photo of a magazine in incredibly bad quality and the other is a direct capture. Admittedly the skin looks way more plastic in the photo, possibly because there is no translucency, but this could also be attributed to crap quality and different lighting. Let's just wait and see shall we? I'm not convinced yet at any rate :)

It's hard to tell from that scan, but I think I'm siding with Jolli on this one, if I had to pick in-game or CGI, I would say in-game.

Indeed, most definately ingame, looks fantastic aswell, characters look quite close to the cgi counterparts, a bit stiffer and lower poly obviously but the gap is closing.

Jolli: I'm just so tired of people spewing crap on the 360 because it's MS making it when it's obviously the best choice if you want to play great games NOW. I wouldn't mind owning a PS3 if there was something to warrant the purchase, but there really isn't as far as i'm concerned and i'm just so sick of hearing how awesome FFXIII will be and that we won't get it on the 360...well, screw you sony fanboys, now the 360 is getting it too :)

Now ofc far from everybody has this view of the ps3 but i feel i hear it a lot. Often enough to annoy me.

The days when FFXIII was a major talking point is clearly gone, but there is redemption yet. Have you guys heard yet how much better FF Versus XIII's graphics are than FFXIII's? :P

It's not true, but that's what is being said by many people now since it's taking full advantage of the ps3 as an exclusive and FFXIII is being held back by the fact that it's also releasing on the 360 :)
