http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/unrealtournament...

looks awesome, this game is a game that needs to be played on the pc however, i mean the unreal series on the console's were ok, but on the pc it's MMMMMMMMMMMMM ONSTER (KILLLLLL :D) !

there's just nothing that can beat the fast paced action of unreal tournament on the pc. Wall jumping while shooting someone out of the sky with a well place frag shell or rocket....

(i just hope they go back a bit more to their roots: The original Unreal Tournament is still one of the best multiplayer games I ever played....)

The technology is great, but the art uhhhh.... no comment. Oddly enough the armor looks very similar to GOW. Even check out the glowing elements--I think the gears have some too, but blue =P

First shot is an odd aspect. Things I really like are the tired--they almost look hand drawn. The back gave/covered allye seems to have nice lighting and shadowing--typically detail like that is lost over a distance. It looks like the artists took the time to make the broken asphalt actually bumby and jagged instead of texturing it on. Shadows look clean (if not maybe too much contrast at times but it could be time of day... basically reminds me of D3 or Fear where there is no middle ground for the subtlety of shadows). HDR looks solid (e.g. the detour sign and the vehicle). The building and brickwork look solid. The vehicle, if you look close, is super detailed in texture work--a lot of chinks and scratches. Kind of boring guns for scifi Meh on the neon signs. Not digging the art, but that is a me-problem, not game problem.

Second on is very GOW. The armor just screams "GEARS!" Nice gun, GREAT flame effect. A lot of (boring!) detail in the background. Looks like Epic has been hard at work in making every inch breath.

Third has some nice lighting on the face. Not the wart/pimple above the right eye--super detailed. I also dig the contrast in the shadows here--notice how the face shadow is light, but the under chin shadow is very intense (Dark). The corn rows look real. The surroundings scream HD Doom3 though. Superb detail in the character and the level, just not feeling it :( Alas UT is about gameplay, online especially, so who cares (although I am DIEING for a game of this detail but with real world objects... like CS:S Office, but way better quality--and you can go into EVERY room!)

Fourth... wow, look at the face. Insane detail. Shadows are great--contrast is excellent. And note how they are ALL SOFT. The head looks "lumpy" but that is because they are using a lot of normals--looks great though. The armor from this angle looks very detailed with a lot of fine detail. But to me it is the lighting/showing (totally different parets of the engine, but hey, they work together in the end), soft shadowing, and self shadowing are really setting this apart. Those on top of the uber detailed characters just screams "AAA"! Heck, think about how great this would look if they had a good art theme ;)

Notice how the shots are all widescreen. I know it says PC, but widescreen scream ___________ to me ;)

Looking *GREAT*. Of course you will never see this detail in game because it is a blazing fast FPS. I wonder what the gibs look like! 0_o

Lookin good..I haven't been serious about UT since UT99. I missed out on 2k4 because my PC was a POS at the time..I'm sure it'll welcome me back with open arms tho...that is, if quake wars doesn't keep me away all together.

Some of those screens have crazy detail in them...

Not my type of game, but it does look nice.

There's no particular reason to assume that widescreen shots aren't PC shots..though PC games generally don't have GREAT support for widescreen gaming the situation is getting better as there are more and more 16:10 LCD panels..

I can't wait to try it..I've always loved the UT weapons..and the alternate fire modes..the multi-rockets, the shock rifle, the flak cannon..awsome stuff

The graphics are really nice, but I was never a fan of the UT series.
I just think there's no skill involved. You just jump around and theres no recoil and such.

Wow, I think that's the first time I've EVER read someone describing the UT series like that.

Yeah, UT2007 will be awesome.. Together with ET:QW it will probably be the only PC game I buy this year (unless some surprising unknown game turns up)..

He can offcourse beat Fatal!ty in any UT game because it involves/requires no skill.. ;)

Seriously, UT requires a lot of skill, in movement, aim and several other things like learning the maps, items, weapons, respawns, etc etc etc.. Since he named recoil I presume he's a CS player or something.. I can tell you from experience CS is much easier to learn then UT..

Its just my opinion. When ever I played UT. You just see some mad ammounts of people bunny hopping and rockets going everywhere. Ok sure, you need to have quick aim and stuff. But all you have to do is hold W and spacebar whole holding the left mouse button and you've basically done it.
FireWire, I wasn't asking for a flame war. Watch your mouth.

And uhh, people don't bunny hop in CS, right? heh..

CS and UT are pretty different games, but they both require skill..shit, there's basically no hit location detection in Quake, and no recoil..that doesn't mean the game requires no skill..the fast pace of movement makes up for it to some extent, because rather than taking stance and firing you basically need to keep high mobility 100% of the time if you don't expect to get nailed..

It's like saying, CS doesn't require skill cause there's no dodging! (of course, hoping is dodging, heh)

Lol if u think before posting there's no need for a flame war (you've only been here a day so who can blame u), and as far as your comment goes i think the other guys have explained it already: Ofcourse it requires skill but in a different way than for example CS....

UT no skill involved???? Damn... I'm shocked at that one :) I'm good friends with john (fatal1ty) I played counter-strike with him quite a bit when he was in forsaken and inevitable fate.
