Bungie has announced the third and final map in the upcoming Downloadable content pack for Halo 3, the Legendary Map Pack. Blackout is a remake of the Halo 2 favourite Lockout, and it is supposed to be a strict remake of it without too much changes made. Yeah, armours in Gears of War look worse than the Master Chief's armour in the new shot. I think weshould wait until we see the game in motion - it could amazing or downright disappointing, it's really hard to tell from this screenshot. I still have a feeling it'll look jaw-dropping. We already know animations are great, controls, gameplay and weapon balance, too. Now I want to see graphics and AI, that are my only concerns about Halo 3 (I'm sure they we'll be atleast fine, but I want to know how hard they pushed them).
Agreed I'm eager to see how hard they pushed that stuff as well. I remember reading a while back about all these weird tactics the enemy were using against you so I hope to see signs of that.

Yes it is Bungie's creation but they have a massive "bible" that contains all relevant backstory of the universe and motivations for characters etc. The authors of these books are given access to it and can query Bungie about stuff to make sure it fits their vision.

About your spoiler : Gray team have been MIA for a long time and it was made up of three SPARTAN-II soldiers. Just a possibility.

I don't think 4 player co-op is an essential feature really unless it has bonified implications on the story and everyone isn't playing Master Chief, but the chances of that are unlikely so I suppose 4 master chiefs with yourself and 3 other buddies would be fun regardless, but I think everyone owes it to themself to play SP by themself first.

I believe that rumor came from EGM? And as we all know they're pretty full of *expletive* Even if by chance that were to be the case I'm pretty sure they still rebuilt a bunch of their tools with the intention to get more out of the 360. Plus I'm also sure they've got to be using art assets more appropriate for a console such as the 360.

Heh probably no need for you guys to spoiler considering the thread title, but I suppose its a good idea nonetheless. In regards to that spoiler I think Master Chief will be making his way to the Onyx in some shape or form in Halo 3 and if not I atleast hope we hear more about what Blue Team is up to or Master Chief atleast gains some knowledge of the shield world. Halo 3 wouldn't be a proper ending without the Chief learning of the Onyx.

If the Chief doesn't find out about it or atleast finds out whats going on there will be a Halo 4.

Uh, no. Legendary co-op from day one. It doesn't have to impact the story one bit. I couldn't care less. And yes, I do want to see how the story ends, but it really doesn't effect it one way or another with buddies around.

I don't think Halo 3 will make specific references to the books at all, at least not in any major or important fashion. They didn't make these games for the people who read the novels -- they made them for everybody.

I'm sure Ghosts of Onyx is a classic piece of American literature, but they're going to make sure (and you can be sure of this) that you get the whole story without having to have read any of these books.

Isn't the point of Legendary that it's hard? You could just play on Heroic you know -- oh that's right, you need your e-penis points! ;)

I wonder if Legendary co-op will be implemented like it was in Halo 2 -- if one person dies you're both (or x4) screwed.. I think it should. I'm definitely not into this whole, I must play the game by myself first thing, co-op is what made these campaigns as fun as they are. Halo 1/2 are both much more enjoyable when you're playing with a friend.

Theonly time I found reference in games that other spartans might be alive was in Halo 2 on Earth right before battle against Scarab. A marine said "When I asked for reinforcements, I didn't know they'd send me a Spartan" - so you can really forget about other Spartans in H3 -there will be none , their story will be continued via novels and or comics. BTW on July 18th ther will be Halo Uprising #1 available, anyone buying that?

Don't make the first level as difficult as Cairo station on Legendary. That frickin hanger bay is a nightmare! Save it to the last.

Give the marines some sort of intelligence, hold them back , let them hide and throw

Well in regards to 4 player co-op I love the prospect simply because I have two nephews and no matter how I schedule things there'll always be times where we have to be "sorry we're playing X" and that's such a bummer. It's not a game breaker, but it does indeed sound very inviting with 4 player co-op.

They'd have to scale it accordingly though of course, but Halo AI and health system makes it pretty easy to do that.

Yea, it would be fun to play with four friends over live through co-op. When the beta came out, my friend bought a wifi kit, registered for live, and brought his crackdown over to play it on the other HDTV. It was fun. Me and my friend could both be on separate TVs and kick covenant ass with two others online, that'd be awesome.

I think otherwise. I think there will most definitely be other Spartans in the SP in some form or another even if you don't fight alongside them.

Hell they even included Spartan III helmets in the multiplayer so I suppose that in itself should give some weight to the speculation that there will be other Spartans in this game. I mean you can't finish the fight without finding out about the Onyx and deal with whatever threat might be there can you? I know Bungie will make sure you can know the whole story without having read the novels, but it seems incomplete if they end the Chief's story without him ever finding out about Onyx and what took place there in some shape or form.

I mean it isn't like Master Chief will be on Earth for the entire Halo 3 campaign. Or will he? I believe in the Multiplayer Beta that block rock of a planet they showed us in the back was infact Onyx.
