The pistol wasn't supposed to be in the Beta so I wouldn't base any impressions of it from that.

As for the manual, it's legit. I wouldn't be surprised to see weapons left out of it on purpose, more for the player to find out. I think Halo 2's manual was the same?

Yeah there was missing weapons/ vehicles/ enemies in the halo 2 and halo 3 manuals. Nothing new there.

Those pics looks really awesome to me. In fact, HALO 3 is not going to blow the competition away, but it doesn't seem to have that bad graphics (at least not overall) that i've suspected.

What me really concerns is the lack of AF, it's even more annoying that the lack of AA. You could see it in the Beta and you can see it on those pics like that:

This game needs more AA but what I am surprised about is people complaining about the jaggies in this game when Gears of War had Jaggies like crazy. Thanks for the link Phaethon.

P.S. Who would win the Covenant w/ Elites or the Chimera. I had a argument with someone about this topic.

Yes, they is awful shinies.

Also, note the dead civilians in the pools of blood to the left...interesting...I'm sure the final product SP will have more AA than these screens, after all - the MP shots here look smoother than the SP... GOW had an S load of jaggies, but everything in the color palette was so bland and dark that you wouldn't notice unless you looked hard at it (I know, it's a major "duh").

Other things to note - in the hunter screen you can see a good # of enemies and a handful of banshees and phantoms, just a taste of the ongoing airbattles.
Also, on the 7th screenshot, note the many dead bodies on the ground - much more than H2 had.

I know people are crazy for off screen shit here, but gimme direct feed any day. Looks great. That's what the game actually looks like. And aliasing? A little.. but honestly no more so than most other 720p games. Looks reasonably crisp compared to many other games.. really.

Hell, Wired's screenshots are too crisp. But then again, they're not full resolution either. So maybe that's not what it really looks like, but I'm sure it's close--and it looks pretty solid to me. 2-4x better than multiplayer, I'm sure ;)

That's the nicest looking screenshot of a MP level for Halo 3 that I've seen. I'm not seeing Lockout--at least not in the sense that "Last Resort" looks almost exactly like Zanzibar. Looks great anyway.

It's not a remake of Lockout like Last Resort is of Zanzibar, more like a spiritual successor like Valhalla is to Blood Gulch/Coagulation.

When you run around it does capture the feel of Lockout very well, i.e. running across the centre platform, jumping down to it's version of the "shotgun room" etc.

It seems a lot more twisty turny, In my 5 minute look at it I was getting quite lost!

Seems much larger than Lockout too.. I sorta hope there's at least one truly small map still. Small maps are great for 4v4 TDM. And considering just how much 4v4 I plan on playing, I hope there's a nice balance of large vs. small. I also hope there's no premium DLC for at least a few months.. it may drive me away from the game. Hate segmented communities!

Epitah is a lot smaller than it looks in some of the screens. Not had a chance to have a spin round the others that haven't been announced yet save for one which is kinda small but, well different. Certainly not a map in Halo like it yet.

Looks to be a lot of variety though so I wouldn't worry too much. I wouldn't say Guardian is that much larger than Lockout either.

Ouch! I am sueing MS/Bungie for the cuts I received to my eyes from viewing those screenshots. Jaggies oh my!

Free 4xMSAA my ass! Oh wait, Bungie is still think of going for 1080 :rollseyes: at least recent rumor has it the AU build had AA.
