Yea I think no melee weapons completely sucks. I HOPE there is some melee stuff in it. They probably avoided anything melee to avoid the comparisons to kotor or the star wars universe in general.

Even if there is no melee I'm still buying it though.

He flipped around the same way with Gears, but ended up getting it in the end.

I will agree, that no Melee weapons would be a bummer, but I will still be playing the game Naked upon release.

Even though I love shooters (although i hate average shooters), i really couldn't care less about the combat in Mass effect. What made KOTOR such an amazing experience was the moral choices in the game. And what i'm most excited about in ME is the insane dialogue system. I passionately hate reading through lines and lines of dialogue like in most JRPG's. This is going to engage us into the story like we've never experienced before.

Well, some kind of hidden knife maybe. Like the knife blade from SW Republic Commando, that thing was awesome :)

its a small gripe really. I'm just trying to find a fault, and the fact that this is the best we can come up with, speaks for itself :P

I'd like for Bioware to make another Jade Empire. I know for a fact the chances of them doing another Kotor might be low. They didn't get along well with LucasArts?

The thing I hate is that when someone don't like a certain game, they help themselves to come in the thread and say it sucks, or it is bad and all.

If the game is not good for you, why do you even bother thinking of what kind of a comment to write about it. It's not like you are getting a medal for each negative comment you write.

That to the side...Mass Effect, best RPG!!!

PS. Yesterday I watched Dark Sector and Mass Effect gameplay from marketplace, and I saw a lot of jaggies and pixels on my HDTV. Although my PC,360 and TV is on a table set, I saw it.

But I was stupid not forget that I have to move away couple of feet from the TV until I don't see any edge pixels or jaggies.
So I went 5 feet back to my bed, and put on "dynamic" on my TV and it looked like the final product =P.

I love how Garrus looked so amazingly detailed on the 2nd walkthrough video while talking to Ashley and Shepard. And then theres Dark Sector, amazing as always. Really felt like a demo presentation live.

Non the less, makes me wonder how the 3rd wave of next-gen games are gonna look like with Gears 2, Ninja Gaiden 2, Too Human...etc.

Well Sath if i'm not happy about a games direction I will say so.

besides you have come in the Lost Odyssey thread and have stated countless times if it is turnbased you won't buy it, so don't be such a hypocrit.

If you guys don't like what i say, well thats your tough :)

And as for the best game this gen, I really doubt it some how (based on the assumption that everyone will a different opinion)

No I say I don't like turn-based but I ALWAYS leave a positive comment, for example how great Lost Odyssey looks. It does look amazing, love the setting and graphics and all. But it's only the turn-based that is holding me back from buying it.

It's pretty clear to me that shooting is not a focus for Bioware on this title, they've put much more emphasis on story and character interaction and that should be quite apparent from the two videos up on MP. To write it off just because you don't like shooter's is a bit pre-mature IMO. Looks to me like you can get involved in the combat as much or as little as you like and there's clearly other abilities for your characters.

I'm all for getting a diverse portfolio on the 360 but we don't have to pigeonhole every game with a gun in it. There's guns in Fable 2, I suppose that's a shooter as well :|

Well I'll disagree there deft I do believe mass effect's gameplay is heavily influenced on shooting, BUT its Bioware so clearly it should have a strong story so nobody is simplifying it as just being a shooter. The dialog system is impressive. I like the thought of being able to cut people off in the middle of conversations (who knows that may piss characters if I do it too much)

You can also fight using technology. Biotic powers which are like force powers or magic. The guns are clearly a key aspect of the game which everyone here knows, but I like what else Bioware is doing to keep it from seeming like a dumb shooter. The exploration should also be really cool and help seperate it from other games. Another thing that interests me with mass effect is how they appear to be aiming to make most conversations look very cinematic which should help with the immersion quite a bit. I totally forgot about customization of your character's attire or modding guns so they have different abilities in combat (which is yet another cool part). I also can't imagine how many different guns, biotic abilites or technology you'll be able to use. There is tons of attention to detail present in this game clearly and depending on how many guns or abilities we have that'll take it even further.

If I have any complaint about Mass Effect its that I would've have liked to see more combat gameplay videos than I have up to this point so I could get a better feel for the flow of combat. It's hard to do that from just the 2 combat videos we've seen so far.. atleast for me it is. I'm still buying the game though. It's a title I don't think I could avoid picking up for the 360.
