I'm definitely into this, visually stunning.

I'll definitely keep my eye on it. I've always found their pure sim approach lead to some pretty convoluted game design choices, but it looks cool.

I remember thinking the missions and gameplay were boring and slow but there's enough here for a lot of fun and enjoyment, and then there's the people who are actually into these sim games and you end up seeing their really neat missions they do and post on youtube etc.

I wish they would do a WWII version. It would reduce some complexity and the tank and air battles and RPC was naturally much better than modern warfare IMO. The idea of full scale maps, e.g. Wake Island, with a more serious approach to vehicles and combat would be a lot of fun IMO.

They definitely need to work on it. Considering how much they leave out of their definition of "sim" it always bothered me how clunky some things are. Particularly trying to get the AI men under your command to even come CLOSE to doing what you tell them to do.
That said I do really enjoy Arma II, and I'm looking forward to this entry. Hopefully they will work on textures and performance int he engine, even at "very high" texture settings, everything seems to look about the same as "low".

Definitely looks nice enough, but all ARMA games have always had great realistic art style and graphics. I'm wondering whether they will actually bring their physics engine into the new millenia with this new release though. Hated the lack of physics and reactions when shooting people in ARMA II. Looked straight out of 1995. Also, vehicle damage and destruction could use some serious improvement. Looks like they may have reworked the animations though, which was really the only other sore point in the series...

"Proper" physics and ragdoll was added some time ago to Arma3, videos were posted showing such, although possibly before Gamersyde started including PC content so may not have been posted here.

Remember playing ARMA II for the first time, i spawned on a field on a random part of the map. Had no idea where vehicles were or how to ask for a heli to come pick me up but i knew there was a fire fight somewhere ahead of me so i decided to run there. Took me literally 30mins+ to get there and when i did the people playing had pulled out to another village, f*************!!!

I agree.
I like modern setting, but that is close to CoD type considering its exagerated to some extend. Battlefield is like my toe is across the final line of "me dont like" (which tbh I am not enjoying it the game anymore considering some issues I have with it, probably gonna get rid of it soon).

About the game

What's up?
  • droezelke
droezelke @Megido: well. You can read their election programs. But voting is more chosing a direction than 1 single issue. The Brexit vote was: yes or no. No nuance. The UK is divided in 2 camps now. (1 Hour ago)
  • Megido
Megido @droezelke: even worse. People vite on one single issue and get a whole package of unknown policy. (3 Hours ago)
  • MrWhite
MrWhite @droezelke: Exactly. In my country, that decision is often made on propaganda and bigoted reasoning. (4 Hours ago)
  • MrWhite
MrWhite Once again, foreigners are the ones making the big decisions of my island. Time for an all Ireland referendum. Scotland should follow. (4 Hours ago)
  • droezelke
droezelke @Megido: Totally different. Because you only vote for a person or party. You don't vote on a decission in yes or no terms. (4 Hours ago)
  • Megido
Megido @droezelke: you could levy the same argument about voting at all. Most people dont know what they are voting for. (4 Hours ago)
  • droezelke
droezelke It was a stupid decission of Cameron to have a public vote on such a complex issue. Most of the people only thought of immigrants. They have no idea about foreign trade, politics, security, ... (4 Hours ago)
