Our videos of Risen 2

Our videos of Risen 2

Risen 2: Dark Waters is now available on PC, console owners being forced to wait a few more months, and we took a bit of our precious weekend time to capture a few gameplay videos for you guys. Once gain, Piranha Bytes' new game suffers from quite a few technical issues (pop-in mostly, but also framerate issues on my PC - i5 3.2 Ghz, RAM: 8 Go, Geforce GTX 570) but there is something definitely appealing in being a pirate. The videos were captured using Fraps at 60 fps thanks to Miguel's new comp (i7 5 Ghz, RAM 16 Go, two Geforce GTX 680) so big thanks to him.
Update: Images added.

Nice guide and preview for us that wasn't too sure about this game regardless of the mediocre reviews. (oh, by the way someone forgot to translate Go to GB) =)

I was surprised by the mediocre reviews it received, i maybe expected that for the console versions but not the PC. Apparently the combat still ain't all that, but what RPG truly does get this right? Well...scratch that..Witcher 2 so far definitely does that awesome.

Depends on your preference in combat really.
I thought Dragons Dogma demo had nice combat, Amalur is good too. I cant think of any other.

I had high hopes for this, if for no more reason than the theme appeals to me, but I think I will hold off

You have to have that high of specs for this game???

Well, turns out that when putting shadows on high instead of ultra, the framerate doesn't drop under 40 fps so it's totally playable, even though it's not 60 fps all the time. I'm 6 hours into the game, taking my time (first island only) and I'm enjoying it a lot more than I first expected when I saw the pop-in issues. I love the game's atmosphere.

I didn't play Demon/Dark Souls so i can't judge, but i think i'd like that combat too. Amalur's combat (in demo) got old and very boring for me quick to be honest. Witcher 2 is awesome with this in my opinion, really making you feel like you are hitting someone, i love that. It has weight to it.

The combat in the first Risen wasn't anything to write home about either, and boy did i love that game. I actually played and finished the 360 version, which was a quite bad port, but i knew how deep Piranha Bytes games were, and i knew i had to press on. When i accepted the questionable controls and combat, i started to love it. The 360 version from what i've seen definitely seems to be a much better port this time around...so i can see myself buying it in august. We'll see.
