Page 1 2 >>at least,this will prove what they got i guess !
the environments are so gimmicky now. have they ran out of real gameplay ideas?
and ,considering how they've changed the system so far in the alpha demo, gameplay is a vast improvement over DOA4.
Impressive! DOA for me is the only fighting game these days to give SF a run for it's money. The fire in the level looks fantastic.
The level stuff seems so gimmicky and potentially disasterous for any kind of balance. Oops, got lucky and a tiger knocked you up in the air mid combo!
Aside from DoA1 and maybe 2, it just feels like the series has always been one step behind the other franchises.
I think TTT2 will destroy this in just about every way, especially sales :P
In what way? Being a casual scrub fest?

The only scrub-DOA was 4.
DOA has always had interactive environments. It's one of the few things that sets it apart from other fighting games. I would be disappointed if all we saw every time we had a reveal for 5 was "generic backdrop #9"

i guess you're right. i think i'm just tired of the same fighting games every year for the past ten years and even longer for some of them. and they haven't evolved much. i suppose other devs are afraid to compete with the same rehashes that continue to rake in the money from people who don't desire something new and different.
Also if you think fighters haven't changed in the last 10 years...well, you can just GTFO right away, because you are beyond wrong.
Don't let that sort of thing get to ya. People say the same thing about every genre they don't participate in.
It just annoys me that people have a quick look and judge the games even though they know NOTHING about them, and don't even entertain the thought that maybe there is more to it than they themselves realize. Just like when people think a game like Tekken is slow and how you are a master after learning your 10-hit combo, or that SFIVis just about shooting fireballs. I feel a srong need to call that shit whenever i see it :P
No no, It's also inferior to VF, KoF, Fighting Vipers, Fighting Street, NES Double Dragon VS mode and that physics based sumo wrestling game as well. No bias. If you like DoA i want you to be sad, and feed off of your tears.
in latest generation the only beat'em ups that positively surprised me were Capcom's. Oh and the latest Mortal Kombat was also amazing! DOA franchise stood tall and proud back in the day when we were craving for Arcade quality at Home. Now that consoles have surpass the Coin'Op this game does not scream Power and does not scream innovation. DOA was strong along with Soul Calibur back in the Dreamcast/PS2 times. Now they're slowly dying.
Honestly i think this will probably sell alright. The masses like the stupid fighters, as proven by MK9. Balance or interesting systems are not interesting, but flash and flair is. This has the later in abundance. That said, i seriously doubtit'll topple the jugernauts like Tekken or SF, but i don't think they are epecting it to sell 40 million copies.
NES Double Dragon VS mode

Honestly the thing that needs fixing the most in DOA is the counter system.
and as for gameplay DOA always has been a step behind. Hopefully with Itagaki gone they can actually improve the gameplay(which all signs so far point to yes...so far).

Really? They dumb both SF and MvC down and that's sweet to you? Als i just don't see why people think MK is so great. It's easily the shittiest fighter out there atm. Slow, poorly designed and just lacking strategy. It's accessible ass all hell though, i guess that's why people like it. Kinda sucks that it takes about one afternoon to get from "never played it" to ready for EVO :P

SF4 was a good surprise cause the manage to upgrade it visually. It lost some of its speed but it gained a bit more dynamic to it plus more online -- plus Marvel vs Capcom 3 and X Tekken versions proved that the franchise is still alive and breathing. MK9 aesthetic went back to its roots and there are so many fans of MK out there that celebrated the fact it went back to 2D style and with excellent visuals combos and graphic violence that actually made the game banned here in Australia.
DOA franchise was itagaki's point of view on VF - Itagaki always loved VF and disliked Tekken. Itagaki's DOA had amazing joyful festive stages with super duper bright colours. I love DOA a lot so it is sad for me too to say something like that - Didn't say that its going to be shit though - Is just that so far all I see is more gloomy stages like dusty war-fields - night construction platforms and this new video again its a gloomy looking stage. Where are the waterfalls? and the lakes and the bright blue skies? I hope I'm wrong and this proves to be amazing cause I love DOA and I'll buy it instantly. Many complain about itagaki's gameplay but that is only DOA4. All the previous ones have been amazing plus Ninja Gaiden 3 was nowhere near the previous titles I do miss Itagaki's aesthetic more to be honest.
I guess that depends on what level you play on then. If they were trying to emulate VF they missed the target by a whole damn lot :P
