If you enjoyed the Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII trailer you might enjoy as well its extended version. But here, the core is the new gallery of screenshots that Square Enix released today, which reveal among other things Lumina, a new character. The game is expected to release this Fall.

Hard to believe how FF games are received these days given how the franchise was once unstoppable. I guess a case of the majority audience growing out of this type thing, but certainly the most loyal fans would argue it's more than that

They released some pretty decent games last year...Deus ex was awesome (or was that 2011?), and tomb raiders bound to make them abit of money. But it's surely only a matter of time before they become fulltime publishers of western games and start licencing out their engine instead

Took me a while to realize that in pic 16, those are probably supposed to be some sort of lace frill thing, not just a horrible jagged mess of giant pixels :P

At any rate, this looks terrible. Character design is just awful, the environments are still shamefully flat and boxy and i just can't imagine it will be worth playing for the story :P

I always loved FF art and design. And thats where I ended with this game. So I always like to watch new videos and see new screenshots with new designs. Its amazing. I dont give a damn about the gameplay.

Lightning's sunglasses depict pretty good how i feel about the whole FF franchise these days: It suffers from overstylization and awful (art-) design. When it all used to be simpler and less polygonal i was like: "Damn, give them the hardware already to put their vision into reality." Today i'm like: "Take it back, take it back !" Are the Japanese still camping for this shit like 3 days ahead of release or does that only belong to the 90's and early 2000.

I think square in particular have just gone bananas with retarded character designs though. FFX had some pretty damn terrible stuff, and XIII just has some really bad ones. If they juiced up the graphics of something lik FFVII the character designs would still look OK because they are not so absurdly over-done. There is beauty in simplicity, you don't always need these ridiculous peacock outfits that are so bizarrely intricate that you could never ever conceive of someone getting up in the morning and strapping themselves in to them :P

It's not as bananas as one would imagine it to be if you've ever been to Shibuya or Harajuku. J-Fashion is about the worst 'artstyle' that could possibly cross my mind when talking FF character design. Lost Odyssey had that too btw, but overall the game managed to preserve more of the once great FF appeal than Square JRPGs do these days.

Rem when a final fantasy game came out, it used to be a occasion like Halo (before there was a halo every year) and half life
it was something that came every now and again and was a joy to behold :D

Haha...I guess I mean FF6 ! Was my Favorite of them all !
& was ok,but I remember cleary how I disliked the Jump to ugly polygons back in the day !

Enjoyed 9 for some reason and 10 was Cool as well !
Tried 12 but the Battle System really annoyed me a lot !

So yeah,SNES FF6 was awesome,DQ5 on SNES was pure Genius as well !

most people disagree with me entirely but i have not played all FF games but a decent amount of there main games, and 10 is by far the best for me.. aside from the whistle scene... christ :(
