GSY Review PS4 PS3

As the final exclusive in Sony’s 2014 PS4 line-up, LittleBigPlanet 3 is a bit of an outsider. After all, the series has never really managed to hit it big with with the PlayStation audience at large. Yet with its beautiful artistically original universe we can’t help but feel a bit of disappointment that it never managed to join the likes of Naughty Dogs and Sony Santa Monica’s worlds. Despite that, there’s no denying its irresistible charm, unique universe, unforgettable music, and impressive level creation suite. Left in the hands of Sumo Digital (Virtua Tennis, Sonic and All-Stars Racing and even Forza Horizon 2 on Xbox 360), this third episode hits both the PS3 and PS4 at the same time but does it have enough to convince those still reluctant to jump in? Hopefully we can help with our videos and verdict!

Verdict

Without its technical hitches and bugs LittleBigPlanet 3 would probably stand as the best release in the series to date. It’s a more dynamic game with loads of already available user made content contrasted against a rather short - though still fun - adventure. New characters bring a lot to the experience but they’re underused making us wonder about future DLC opportunities. If you’re going to appreciate this installment you’ll have to be able to deal with some launch issues, bugs and the lack of ambition on the visual front since it hardly puts the PS4 to full use. It’s unlikely that it will attract new fans but at least LittleBigPlanet 3 manages to live up to and, in some ways, exceed the original games.
  • On the up side
  • The Universe
  • Artistically beautifully
  • Loyalty to the series despite a new developer
  • The soundtrack
  • Previous community content available here
  • Plenty to play
  • The three new characters
  • More dynamic gameplay
  • Can offer a nice challenge
  • The level editor – streamlined but very rich
  • Content creation – the promise of unlimited fun
  • On the down side
  • Technically no more advanced than a PS3 game
  • Some bugs, some of which forcing to restart the level
  • Too many lengthy loading screens
  • Under-utilized new characters
  • Missing a layer of polish

ok,ty. really strange though when considering super mario 3d world is locked at 60fps on the wii u and that is in full 3d and its looking awesome. Maybe its just a port from ps3 then.

I didn't like the game that much, and it's too short, even shorter than Infamous SS, it's not worth $60, many of the levels are more frustrating than fun and a lot of trial and error similar to Puppeteer.

Too many chase scenes, and the music is generic and boring, the devs need to listen to the music in Wario Land: Shake It, Nights into Dreams, Donkey Kong Country etc.., I can't say the game is really bad but it's not great, I don't think I'll buy LBP4 if there's one.

The Create aspect is what really matters in this game, but if you're not a creative person it's not the best game for you.
