Quake Champions introduces Duel Mode

Bethesda showcases the new Duel mode of Quake Champions, a 1-v-1 showdown where players select three champions for their roster before entering the arena. A Tech Test is currently live until May 21 and it includes this nesw Duel mode as well as the team-based competitive mode Sacrifice.

I think they look the same? Unless you're talking about the CG stuff.. because duh :P

The game needs optimization badly.

Quake was dark and violent. This one is colorful like a plastic toy, looks stupid and outdated.

This has a similar palette to Quake 3 Arena and is violent. I think your nostalgia glasses are malfunctioning.

Looks a lot like Q3, yeah. Only with moar polygons and shaders. Doesn't quite play exactly the same but that's not really a bad thing.

I think Q3A is a much better game but it's best to let Quake Champions be its own thing.

I mean, i prefer Q3 as well, but Champions isn't terrible. I imagine it will have a hard time, what with all the competition. Though i suppose it's quite unique in the way it handles map control and pickups. Still...

I think it will find more success than other new arena games.

I'm probably not playing much more until they address some of the core issues surrounding projectiles and netcode and optimization. Stuff they've stated is in the pipes but could take weeks or months to implement. It should "feel" better at that point and I've played enough of the content they've given us already to know what's what.
