Blim, why do you re-encode these to avi... then you can't drop frames to keep it in synch with the audio. Those of us with slower rigs can use that option in wmp and still have a chance at seeing it like it should be as long as it is still in .wmv format. AVI forces us to watch in slo-mo.

In some instances I'd say it looks surprisingly good, but up close the models still lack a human quality. The comparison on ebay (if anyone saw that, it was hilarious) touched on that a couple of times. There seems to be some artistic (stylistic?) freedom taken to make the characters look almost gorilla like. I dunno if it's a concious choice, but I don't think it quite gels with the overall look.

It does make a lesser difference from afar, and I'd even go so far as to say that in some ways it may actually help the game when you're playing with the standard gameplay camera, sort of like the big heads in Sensible Soccer announced the other day. In closeups I think they look too generic however, but the significance of that may turn out to be 0, simply because you'll be looking at the models from afar 85% of the time.

Also Blim, it looks like it wasn't the video that my rig couldnt handle, it was the like 20 tabs i was running in firefox using up all my cpu power hehe. Forget what I said about the avi thing. That applies to some other cases, but not to this case.

you could always reencode them yourself, thats what I do when I'm at work on a crappy iMac that can't handle them in VLC (it just doesn't have enough memory).

politics aside, madden is a system mover, period. the vast majority of people I knew who bought the ps2 when it came out, did so specifically to play madden, and this was even while dreamcast had 2K, a perfectly good, (imo better) football game, and thats still true, madden is a system seller.

This game looks AWESOME! It's amazing how much they can do in a few months. Too bad I don't buy EA games.

You guys should download an app called "BSPlayer" it plays videos much faster than winows media player

i think the graphic aint good at all. if you see them run they run like robots, they look like lil fat migits playin football. its kinda like nfl fever graphics. buts dats just my opinion what do you think?

I love NFL Fever's graphics. I think the best game would be NFL Fever's graphics integrated with everything else from Madden.

on to my real post tho i jus got on here to diss madden for liek the millionth time in a row and say yes i hate everything EA but in honest thought everyone sees this crap and knows nfl 2k5 woulda owned this game just liek nba 2k6 is ownin nba live in the visual department by a long shot..,,"EA sports...It's just a shame" lol

I personally think it looks phenomenal... not quite cgi but one of the most good looking games ever made IMHO. Maybe the ones who say it looks poor just had their hopes set too high?

Tha animation system is horrible. Watch the first video and watch all the guys around LT. Since the tackle animations are very limited you have guys oddly overrunning and doing the odd "switch back" as he breaks tackles. Not to mention all the animation transitions and you can spot the same animation loops over and over and over... yes, they added some new animations, but putting makeup on a 10year old pig, well, it still a pig!

Stadiums are AWESOME and the new play calling system looks very nice--very approachable for noobs (important to expand sales, also gives your mates a fighting chance). Heh, and I ain't missing the VERY BAD Madden announcing at all! Keep the PA Announcer EA! Madden is Horrible with a capital H!

I also really like the wide screen + new passing icons. HOT!!

To bad they have cut quite a few features. They claim this has been rebuilt from the ground up but it really looks like the PC version with more detail in the models, new stadiums and user interface. I am not seeing all the next gen detail in the player models, animations, rendering techniques, etc.

Some parts are spot on (stadiums, UI, passing icons... drool!) but overall very dissappointing. But just as Madden was a HUGE seller of PS2s at launch (I remember a guy I know telling me, "Have you seen Madden on the PS2? The guys look real!") it will be the same with the Xbox 360. People love Madden and it will sell.

Besides the repeating tackle animations, this game is looking VERY good! This and FIFA are going to be the best looking sports games on the 360.

xvid (AVI) is a superior codec. It uses vectors to compress the video better than wmv.
I would suggest divx player over BSplayer, because it is a much better program.
Its funny because Divx will play WMVHD files faster than windows media player even though WMVHD is a propreitary format created be microsoft.

Wow it looks pretty good, much better than i thought it would in the end. Of course... it could have been better :)

What else could have been better...!? Only thing that really sucks to me is that they won't have a superstar mode on it...which is really fun....! But, what else can be better...!? Anyone...?! And lighting does not count...!

The gameplay has always been good but the graphics have always been crap, at least they're starting to look better.

Is anyone else seeing horizontal 'tearing' on these videos? As if someone left the vsync button off?
