First images of Battle for Middle Earth 2

First images of Battle for Middle Earth 2

Electronics Arts creates the surprise by releasing the first images from the Xbox 360 version of Lord of the Rings Battle for Middle Earth 2. It doesn't look too bad, but I really would like to see how this will play.

hehe, are there 5 guys riding one horse (right side of the second screen)?

seems like the game has no collision detection yet...

I don't know anything about this game. Does anyone have a link to more info on this game.. ie: what genre (it looks like a RTS)
Commented on 2006-01-13 16:40:27
it is an RTS and I have no clue who by EA had the sick idea to port this to the 360...
Commented on 2006-01-13 16:42:30
Yeah, how do you control a RTS without a mouse & keyboard?? That's even a lot worse then FPS on a console.. :P

Bold move by EA.. I think the last RTs that tried it was Red Alert on the PS2 which was a total failure.. RTS games simply belong on the PC, because of the controls.. Just like FPS imho, although with FPS you can at least argue it's kindof playable with a controller, I have no idea how RTS is..

It seems that big battles with tons of people is the new lens flare...

WEIRD! I would have NEVER expected this one. Does this mean official KB/M support?
Commented on 2006-01-13 17:11:38
I think MS left Mouse/Keyboard support up to the developer. If so, bring me Warcraft III instead of this BS.

why does EA never take advantage of a consoles power, dammit the only good graphical game so far is FNR3.

Nice and PC fanboys think that Xbox 360 cant make the graphics of PC strategie games !!!
Commented on 2006-01-13 18:31:28
the graphic looks bad for next gen....
Commented on 2006-01-13 18:42:08
Yet another game port from EA in order to make a quick buck .. GOD! Stop it EA already. The graphics tells it all ... this is not next gen, barely current Gen.

Exactly. It doesn't take a lot of research to see right now the 360 has as much gaming power as any PC out there. With the Architecture including the shaders and such it is new tecnology. Not to mention 3 3.2 GHZ processors.

have no clue ? what's that got to do with it. My post was crystal clear : The graphics are not of a next generation standard which mean EA is just posrting it without using the huge power of the 360 That's All!

Strategy games are never known for it's graphics, it's about umm.... THE STRATEGY involved in playing the actual game.

Yes, have no clue about RTS games and graphics.. Do you own a PC? Did you ever play any RTS game? Any recent ones like i.e. Age of Empires III on a high-end PC?

Battle for Middle Earth 2 looks very good for a RTS, and is certainly next-gen (in gameconsole terms, PC gaming has no clear generations)

About the game

What's up?
  • Melmoth
Melmoth gameplay design either. I ran quite a few levels in Anthony Crowther's Captive before i realized there were 4096 levels and they all were sorta the same. (9 minutes ago)
  • Melmoth
Melmoth some alarm bells shouls go off. If your world is generated from a seed using procedural techniques, you won't have much structure or progress from a world prespective. and most often not from a. (11 minutes ago)
  • Melmoth
Melmoth from the early videos and articles about NMS i thought it was clear how it would end up. All this talking about how fantastic it was how such a small team could make such a huuuge game. (14 minutes ago)
  • Megido
Megido It's amazing how much people want NMS to be so much more than it seems to be, and thus excusing it's shortcomings. (23 minutes ago)
  • alimokrane
alimokrane @Tiz: I dont think NMS needs MP but for someone to go there to defend a game is laughable... (35 minutes ago)
  • alimokrane
alimokrane @Tiz: ROFL..... (35 minutes ago)
  • Tiz
Tiz I realised the defence force of NMS was something else when I read someone say lack of multiplayer was a feature for added solidarity. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (39 minutes ago)
