We today learned about an upcoming event, to be officially unveiled tomorrow. Microsoft, sponsored by Adidas, will host a whole week of free Xbox Live gold gaming, and is also giving the community alot of free stuff on the Marketplace. More info inside!
The week starts on Monday, 8th of May at 08:01 GMT/09:01 CET and ends Monday 15th of May at 07:59 GMT / 08:59 CET. They are also promising that new free Marketplace content - trailers, demos and exclusive gamer pictures will be released each day, but the titles are yet to be announced. Don't forget that it is the E3 week though!
So, what does Adidas have to do with this? Well, the week is of course about football, named "Xbox Live™ Football Free-For-All". It will give you a chance to play Fifa World Cup 2006, to win matches and end up as number #1 on the leaderboards (if you're good enough). If you're still number one on the 24th, you'll be qualified for the Xbox Cup in Germany this summer, and represent your country there.
The silver Xbox Live membership will magically (and automatically) turn into a gold membership on the 8th, so you silver-players out there, start practicing and promise to be good when you'll go online and see how the Xbox 360 really is supposed to be used!
To be honest, Silver players will most likley be slaughtered as they rarely have experience online. Sure they have friends but Gold subscribers play with all sorts. Better and worse.
This will sure make them happy though!
It's about football! Sponsored by Adidas, in relation to the World Cup! It's with that I'd be very surprised if the Americans get to see the promotion, not the Europeans.
In any case it's a good move. Free stuff is good! :D
It hurt a little, but somehow I think it made me more of a MANLY MAN. I've been there, right like, in the gutter.. Gotten dirty. I'm a bad boy, I'll need to start smoking and doing drugs, and start working on short, badly spelled comments about how something isn't next gen and be sure to put commas in all the wrong places.
Sorry for not staying on topic, but when someone says a good score is bad its hard not to reply. It would be good if they held tournaments using demos. Like you could download a demo of fifa and play it . I mean yes they may lose money because people didnt go out and buy it for the event. But those that played it for free for the event may relize that its a good game and go out and buy it.
edit: my first one aswell. At least it was for off topic and not being a complete idiot.
I cant believe how close e3 is now. Soon we'll all be getting the glimpses of games we have truely been anticipating. I'm sure this Xbox live free week will be sure to draw in more customers and subscriptions. I heard there's 1 million subscribers already and it's only been 5 months.
I can't see what people are complaining about with regard to Brits / Whoever not getting the demos that are released in the US .. It's simple, all you need to do is create a 2nd account and give it a USA address; finding genuine zip-codes + areas it matches is quite simple .. and then you can download all the demos for free and revert back to your *normal* account ..
Sheesh .. hasn't stopped me downloading all of the USA content that we don't get over here.
lol it seems like the UK get all the demos the US does. The only one one we didnt get was the ridge racer one. Which imo was crap. You know for the gamer picture thing. They should be inventive. Make a section on thier site where you can upload your own for a price. 300 gamerpoints gets you your own personal gamer picture.

Modern Warfare was the last CoD I bought, waste of money for me. All scripted, makes you appreciate Halo even more (Infinit Ward: THAT is some good example of AI) (48 minutes ago)

oh yea that, Dragon Age was preloading at the time (10 Hours ago)

Maybe.. it's different for pre-loaded stuff too. (10 Hours ago)

@GriftGFX: well Dragon age extracted is suppose to be arround 20 gigs but the download was only 8 gigs or 15 gigs...procedure might be different for newer games (10 Hours ago)

45 minutes for this game would have to be like... 3+ megabytes per second. My Comcast can't do that. (10 Hours ago)

My FFOW DL is almost 12.9 gigs and like 95% done. (11 Hours ago)
