Prey trailer

Prey trailer

Human Head Studios has released a four minute long trailer for Prey, titled "The Super trailer". The game can be super in many ways, but one thing is for certain: it's super-delayed, but also super-revolutionary and super-cool. Seems like 2K Games will have at least two smash hits this year.

I like where they are going with this title, but I'm growing a little old of the dark corridor like ambiance of these Doom look alikes. Pour some some sun light on things a bit and I'll probably give it a chance. And I'm not talking about the sun light that looks like it's 5:oo in the evening. Another overused light source. Still the game is beautiful.

Very nice, the portals are mindblowing! I loved the crate tumbling over to reveal a portal with an enemy on the other side. I think that alone will make it more challenging than the run 'n' gun gameplay of Doom 3 or Quake 4.

Having played a bit of this, I thought the lighting was better than Doom. It's not as dark as the trailer makes out for the most part. :)

"super-revolutionary"--Come on, please. Super cool, yes, revolutionary? In what way exactly, I'm yet to see a revolutionary fps for a long time. Perhaps you can tell me what's so revolutionary about it.

Seriously, compared to todays games, any FPS without transformed humans and aliens is revolutionary. But, I was pointing towards the physics-changing-facts, together with the portals. It does something that is really big, for any genre. The FPS genre really needs this.

I have been looking forward to this game since I heard about it last May. It's also a modified engine of the Doom 3 engine, I hope they modified it for the better (poor Quake IV has tainted my 360)

I must admit that there's alot of shit going on in that vid as far as physics. If it uses the power of the 360 properly, I'll be impressed. Frame rate issues will be no acception.

Walking on walls; Small spheroid planets you can walk around; portals; etc... evolution would be a better word, but since a game like Halo 2 is an evolution of Halo 1, even though they basically are the same with small upgrades, a FPS that adds new dynamics to the genre could be called revolutionary.

Little strong for my taste... but what I said the other day stands IMO. The game has some really nice gameplay mechanics and has taken the title in a direction that actually makes sense, while adding to it and assimulating a number of features and knitting them into a traditional FPS in a way that seems fresh and interesting.

I'm also getting tired of these "Doom enviroments", although there does seem to be more variation in the enviroments in this game.
I like how it starts, in that pub (or whatever), but then that typical Doom enviroment kicks in again, aargh!

Thanks for the high res trailer BlimBlim.

Wow this is the best use of the Doom 3 engine I've seen. This game is a must have.

Certainly appears to be improving and wow what an epic trailer, looking good so i expect it'll be playable at E3.

I REALLY liked the design of the alien ship/creature they showed in the last scene next to Earth. If this game can manage to keep that epic feel, and has a healthy amount of wide open spaces (wich may be hard for the engine), than I'm sold.

Exciting. Prey simply rocks. Hopefully, shooting will be as fun as wall walking and all the other new stuff.

lol, i was sold on this game way back last july.

To me, this game has always looked great, and has enough cool features for AT LEAST two total play throughs.

Barely based on Doom 3 codebase, Human Head has written a lot from the ground-up. Just judging it by the derived engine is not right :)

What's up?
  • Doom_Bringer
Doom_Bringer oh yea that, Dragon Age was preloading at the time (7 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX Maybe.. it's different for pre-loaded stuff too. (7 Hours ago)
  • Doom_Bringer
Doom_Bringer @GriftGFX: well Dragon age extracted is suppose to be arround 20 gigs but the download was only 8 gigs or 15 gigs...procedure might be different for newer games (8 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX 45 minutes for this game would have to be like... 3+ megabytes per second. My Comcast can't do that. (8 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX My FFOW DL is almost 12.9 gigs and like 95% done. (8 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX Steam appears to download extracted and installed, there's no install process once you finish downloading a game. (8 Hours ago)
  • Doom_Bringer
Doom_Bringer D2D file right now is 9.2 GB's. I think it was less when I was downloading it (now its extracted) I am pretty sure Steam works the same way. 12 gb is probably the extracted size :P (8 Hours ago)
