Who cares? Sega have ALWAYS made perfect arcade conversions or BETTERED the arcade game. It's nothing to concern yourself about.

This really breaths tennis, I like it!
Topspin 2 is very disapointing.
it plays way to fast paced, characters look nothing like the players themselves, and don't get me started about the player characteristics(which don't exist in this game)!
I don't think the people who are responsible for this game even know the slightest thing about tennis themselves.
It's like they just asked the 1st guy on the street a few questions about tennis and
went on from there.
If you are a tennis fan and want to get a tennis game, I'd suggest you wait to see what virtua tennis has to offer before getting Topspin 2, because Topspin 2 is not a game for a tennis fan!
This however, looks like it is!

oh good because i'm a massive tennis fan...i really enjoy topspin 2 but have never played a virtua tennis before, so if its better then awesome.
i like that topspin 2 is fast paced like the real thing, it think it captures tennis more than any other tennis game i've played...but if your saying that virtua tennis is better then great.

personally i don't think the graphics are that much better from those screens..but have to wait to see it in motion....topspin 2 has some really good animations but it is pretty bland...this looks to have a bit more happening

the more tennis games the better...here's hoping for a fully flegded out game like a madden or something...with all the tournament, or at least all the grand slams and masters series....lots of real life players with good variation and great gameplay on the court...

could somebody tell me how virtua tennis plays? like is it more arcady or more realistic than topspin? or very similar?

To be honest I've never played a Virtua Tennis game, so I can't say this game will be better than topspin 2 but these screens just look more "alive" than Topspin 2, which I think is very "lifeless".
It just doesn't have that tennis feeling to it.
Topspin does have good animations but not really character specific; It's like they have 2 or 3 "character templates" and spread them around the players randomly.
Nonetheless, Topspin might be a fun game for many people, but for a tennis fan like myself this game sucks, imo.
Again, I can't tell you Vritua tennis is going to all this better, but judging from these screens, I think it's going to be a hell of a lot better.

I honestly dont see how these screens look any better tham Top Spin 2. I'm not saying that the game is going to suck, or that its worse than Top Spin, but this is all I have to base VT3 off of. I love VT1&2 on the DC so hopefully it keeps the same gameplay, but...I just dont see it.

Well it looks quite good (i believe that 360 and ps3 versions will be even better)...but how about that creepy face standing next to the coust? I know its just because the arcade version... gameplay will be definetely breathtaking , Im still playing the arcade version at the pub near my school (wonderful)...Im looking forward playing 2v2 (which wasnt possible in Top Spin2 i think (or just against bots):( )

to satoshi: its running on arcade, not next gen HW... and still there is a long way to realese... it means much time to improve lots of things

I like Topspin2 very much, and I think it plays a lot like real tennis (even more so then Topspin1), so I completly disagree with people like Jato.. I've played tennis at pretty high level myself uptil a few years ago, and I worked for a ATP tournament to see the pro's at work, so I think I know what I'm talking about when I talk about real tennis.. The screenshots of this Virtua Tennis look very nice, I think even better then Topspin2, but it says nothing about the gameplay at all.. I've never played any Virtua Tennis game, so I can't comment on that, but like I said, the gameplay in Topspin2 is pretty good.. Therefor this Virtua Tennis game has to be extremely good in terms of gameplay and offer something special over Topspin2 for me to possibly buy it next year.. My guess is probably not..

Honestly, I don't care if you are Roger Federer himself.
Like I said, Topspin has good character animations, but lacks in the player characteristics themselves.
Also and most importantly, this game lacks in atmosphere.
So no matter how good the animations are, if it doesn't have that feel to it, it doesn't do it for me.

Virtua Tennis has always been better than Top Spin!
