Virtua Tennis 3 on Xbox 360 and PS3

Virtua Tennis 3 on Xbox 360 and PS3

Sega just announced that Virtua Tennis 3 would be released during spring 2007 on both PS3 and Xbox 360 consoles. Great news :) First screens inside.
Update : Sega just contacted me to tell me that these screenshots are from the arcade version of the game, running on a Lindbergh platform.

In what way? Top Spin has the better career mode and more depth.

but how's the actual like on court gameplay of vitua tennis?? like how does it control?
i reckon topspin 2's on court tennis is great, there is room for improvement but it is quite a bit more realistic thatn topspin1 and i reckon that's great...its much better than any other tennis game...i mean if u can actually use tactics to beat pro players that other actually use against them in real life to win, such as returning roddicks massive serve with a slice and starting the point from there, then they are getting it pretty right.........its just the other stuff around topspin 2 that is crappy and here's hoping that virtua tennis will really raise the bar for the features a tennis game has, and deserves to have as it is such a deep game

Virtua Tennis is pick up and play, it has little depth. I assume that's why so many people like it. Top Spin is harder going, Top Spin 2 is harder still. It also features the best career mode. Since these shots are from the Arcade version I doubt VT3 will be sporting more complex play. So what's the point?

All we need to know is....

Can you play doubles online with 4 360's....... If not I don't see how it's going to be much better than topspin. If it does it'll be a topspin killer. Certainly in my clan. 2 on 2 clan matches :-)

I also hope that this news (a Lindbergh game) leads to more Lindbergh games on the 360...mainly Virtua Fighter ;)

You'd be hard pressed to see any graphical differences between this and Top Spin 2, however I feel that the gameplay in this will FAR surpass what TS2 gave us.

here's hoping for a fully flegded out game like a madden or something...with all the tournament, or at least all the grand slams and masters series....lots of real life players with good variation and great gameplay on the court...
Look away from Virtua Tennis then. It's an out and out, pick up and play arcade game. Top Spin 1 far exceeded Virtua Tennis 1 and 2. I played VT3 at an arcade trade show in January and I thought it felt better than VT1 and 2 but still not up to the depth of Top Spin.

Unimpressive screens, IMO.

The poster who said Top Spin looks better is correct.

Lots of mixed opinions here about both Topspin and VT.. Like I said, I only played the Topspin games, but what I read about VT I very much doubt it beats Topspin2 in terms of *realistic* tennis gameplay.. It may be more fun to play for some people then Topspin, but it's probably not a better 'tennis' game.. That's also why I like Topspin2 more then Topspin1, because it more about real tennis, and less about (imho stupid arcady) riskshots.. What monkey1988 said is correct, lots of the effective tactics in Topspin2 are bassicly the same as used in real tennis, that's also why it's so cool to play when you play tennis IRL yourself imho..

After seeying that movie I'll agree the playermodels look a lot better in VT3.. 1 thing that bothered me though was the stupid flash when they hit the ball, which is a sign of a more arcady game..

We'll see.. I'll buy VT3 if it really turns out better then TopSpin2.. But that means more then just better looking playermodels and overall graphics.. Realistic gameplay is most important for me in games like this..

i v already seen this...if the chars models really look as good as those models in close ups, then i m sold....but looking at the screenshots it doesnt seem the case.....also remember the close ups,in the vid u posted, feature no background as well....

wow that video is awesome......much better character models and some nice animations...the faces look like the real players....remember that screenshot of topspin 2 a whileback that had the faces that looked really realistic but they actually look nothing like that in the game...lets hope this is different.
i'll be getting this whether it is better or worse that topspin 2 gameplay wise...i just hope that it plays like tennis....that guy in the movie that knifes that volley looks quite good though so early signs are good haha

lol @ some of you thinking top spin is better when it tried to carbon copy VT, and add a crappy 'top spin' button to make it seem different. The mini games in the career mode were shockingly ripped from VT

Not true. VT2 has alot more to it than you first realise, the vollying and positioning aspects in particular take some mastering.

That video shown is old, and strangely the animation looks like it was taken from VT1, but I expect that to change.

Of course Virtua Tennis is deeper, everyone with half knowledge of both games know that. People keep confusing complexity with depth. Top Spin has more variables, more stats mudding things up and some half random "risk" shots that basically swallow the game whole. That's what throws people off.

When you pick up VT it's accessible, but beyond that, it's about you. How good you get at it, not what it says in front of your "risk shot" stats.

Then again, I suppose in a sense an RPG is "deeper" than Ninja Gaiden aswell. Doesn't mean you're a more skilled player or have learned more after going through the RPG though.
