Xbox 360 PS3

Finnish magazine Pelaaja put up a trailer of Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway which Gearbox released, together with two new images. It's hard to know what is what right now, as some stuff in the video looks better than the same stuff on the images, and the other way around.
Update: Added another image.

Weren't one of the developers talking about how they are trying to make it like a 3rd person shooter through a 1st person perspective. Meaning, more realistic animations and reactions to environment, such as, if you run into a wall you automatically put your hand up, or if one of your squadmates get shot right in front of you, you automatically put your arms up to catch him? Just a thought. Maybe that's what they were trying to show in this trailer.

this video has got to be a mockup. that spinning thing, the markers, and the ammo counter which doesn't go down, all look like afterthoughts. it also doesn't seem to have the same kind of atmosphere as the screenshots that've been released. :(

Yes it's about time games actually started having animation for running into walls and what not.

Acert93, I must applaud for that excellent comment. I couldn't have said it better myself. Thanks for making it an excellent read with the absence of so much poor grammar that plague the forums.

The reason this trailer doesn't look real time is because the developers introduce a look lag to simulate turning your head. Basically there is a tiny bit of lag when the head moves, giving a realistic sway that we have never scene before in any game.

This was stated in either one of the IGN or 1up interviews.

Yes it is about time we actually feel as if we are looking through the characters eyes along with physical awareness. I also remember an interview talking about the contact with walls and other surroundings.

By the way, my comment is aimed to those who speak english natively. If you are bilingual, you have my respect. I love to read everybody's comments, but some of them sound as if a 4 year old made them.

It could very well be... Although I´m kind of sceptic as the first person animations seem somehow odd.

It looks like a cutscene.

I mean look at that............ he pulls a grenade out of a dead guy's hand....

Something tells me that's not a gameplay feature.

Ok people, it is real time it simply is scripted, but that's how the gameplay will look like. And yes, it's not as good as killzone, but nothing this gen will ever be.

Whats wrong with comparing a scripted trailer to another scripted trailer.
That would more accurately be:

Whats wrong with comparing a trailer composed of gameplay footage from the game engine on real hardware produced by the game developer to a scripture trailer rendered on a renderfarm containing no gameplay and produced by an outside VFX house.

i.e. There is absolutely nothing to compare.
Its not some kind of sacred name that must not be spoken of. You are too touchy when it comes to that killzone vid.
Really, mind producing a link to another thread where I am being "touchy" about Killzone. I don't believe one exists at Xboxyde.
The kilzone vid was a target of what killzone "could" play like, and IMO so is this.
"Could"? I guess it depends if you believe. Harrison says it is KZ; almost everyone else calls it a render target. Anyhow, it is not the actual product in any form other that conceptial. It is no more the game than concept art.

Your opinion is wrong in regards to BiA though for all the reasons listed above. It is not a matter of opinion if the game is in engine demonstrating gameplay. FPS games have been using scripted sequences for years. Showing off gameplay on real hardware that happens to have a couple scripted sequences doesn't make it a CGI movie by any means.

This is not a "target" of what BiA3 will look like. This is BiA 3. Unless you can offer some evidence this this is only a sampling of what "BiA 3 could look like" I don't see how your opinion aligns with the facts.

You don't have to explain yourself to acert. If one of the admins are getting pissed off with Killzone based discussion, then let them tell you off.
Of course not, but it is a discussion forum. If he wants to say, "Game 'x' does not look as good as CGI 'x'" then he should be prepared for the discussion the ensues.

I find it a tad interesting that when some solid gameplay shows up that people want to then compare it to a CGI trailer. Either they have set their expections to be at that level (and would expect consistancy in such; every game should be compared to such) or they are downplaying the footage for whatever reason. Who knows what people's motives are, I don't, but I do find it unfair to compare game footage to a CGI.

It was not too long ago that people were crying out, "I want a HUD!" This video HAS a HUD and demonstrates the classic BiA player controls/commands and is obviously using the game engine (note the low poly head of the dead troop for example) and now people want to say it is not gameplay for whatever reason.

I understand why Gearbox is considering pulling future media. You have people crucifying them on both sides. Either it is not good as some CGI or it does not look enough like "gameplay". Gearbox would be better off only doing magazine exclusives for hype at this point if this is the type of unsubstantiate attacks they will receive.
