Assassin's Creed announced

Ubisoft today announced that Ubisoft Montreal is working on an upcoming stealth/action game, Assassin's Creed, which today only is announced for a PS3 release in 2007. But don't forget that the game also was announced (as Project Assassin) for 360 during X05. They released an artwork and a trailer of it, available here.

Bottom left screen...That bit in the video actually looks like it's gameplay!
Oh my....
I won't call this "next gen" yet since it's just basically beefed up graphics and nothing else that is special but goddamn it, this is one nice beefing up!
I want to read more about this....The AI, environment interaction and maybe everytime you stab someone the camera actually follows the blade into somone's heart! THAT'S next-gen.
Well, not raelly but it would be nice to have that.

i think the whole blade following thing was just for the teaser. Im pretty sure its all cg. Sony are pretty much stopping all ingame shots of games that dont look "nextgen" from being shown to the public. So all everyones getting from them is tech demos and cg. I suppose they cant afford to show something equal to the 360 because then all thier twice as fast talk goes out the window. But its disapointing.

What say does Sony have in the trailers Ubisoft releases? Its not like they're first party and Sony can dictate when and what to show.

This game looks sweet though, and from what ive read about what they plan to do with the level of interaction and animation of the character, we truly are headed into the next gen.

lol Sony did dictate what was to be shown. Infact according to some developers sony told them if it doesnt look as good as the 360 or better not to show any footage of it. They even stopped small companies from making games for the ps3 because they didnt have the budget capable of creating such graphics. So they are dictating one hell of alot.

"Stopped small companies making games for the PS3" What the hell are you talking about? Where did you hear such crap? I don't want to go off topic though but that's total BS. Sony even made a cheap dev-kit so that more developers can create and widen the library of PS3 games. No idea why anyone would believe that Sony stopped companies from making games for PS3...:/ Makes no sense.
More games = more sales.

Sony didn't actually try to stop small developers from working on PS3. What happened was that there was (might still be) a shortage of development kits and so the bigger companies were bumped to the front of the line.

The middle ages art style looks awesome but I wonder if it's going to be in first person or third person. I hope it doesn't play like a Dynasty Warriors or Ninety Nine Nights game.

well they didnt stop them from developing stuff per say. They just set them such stupid guidlines which made small companies unable to develop for it. One of the guidelines was that it must look as good as launch 360 games. Microsoft as you know are just letting any graphics on the 360, final fantasy 11 for instance. Sony however would have had a thing or 2 to say about a game looking like ff11 going on thier new system. With sony its all about hype and they need to keep that going by setting a high graphical standard.

Although this will stop some of the small more fun games from coming threw.

  • digi_matrix
digi_matrix Paranormal Activity was insane, totally deserves being the most profiting indie film ever made. I saw the original version, not the theatrical one. WAY BETTER! (4 Hours ago)

SimonM7 Nope, no such prestige I'm afraid. Just 1½ year of comic making and ICQ channel community on quakenet of all places. :) 2002 doesn't sound far back but it's soon 8 years ago. Time sure does roar past. (10 Hours ago)

SimonM7 Thanks :D and yeah I do. M7 was originally a webcomic, and the idea now is to make it a bit of an entertainment blog in general and a webcomic. Only done two strips so far since I rebooted it in may. (13 Hours ago)
