Man this trailer is so awesome, and almost makes me want to stomach that $600 system. Whats up with the 420x270 video though? We need some 720p goodness! BlimBlim to the rescue!

That's the best resolution available so far, at least for direct feed.

Please don't even insult Kojima by comparing it to Bungie....

Awesome trailer, awesome graphics and without a doubt, awesome game overall.

My only worry- Lifespan.

What?!
Did you even watch this trailer, did you not see the unbelieveable animations in this trailer?
The visuals are lacking colour a bit indeed, but I'd take this over SCDA anytime!
Now I don't think the game will look and animate like this trailer, but don't say SCDA
looks better than this trailer, cause it isn't by miles!

Hahaha, exactly my friend.
Xbox seems to have the majority of fanboys.

Anyway, this game is just WOW! Infact, Hideo should release a small book of words to help us express our amazement in bigger ways....It's so good and deep, I've cried.
Is PS3 worth $600? Just this one game alone says yes.

Some information about the game:
- Snake will age throughout the game...(What the fuck, how long is it?? haha) Or is it because his body is decomposing. Imagine when you get to the final stages of the war(game), you are older, warn out, losing your special moves....It will truly feel like THE END!
- The game will make use of the "Six ways of movement" feature of DualShock 3.
- The online will be looked into with great detail, says Hideo.
- The vide is Real Time and Hideo promises visual improvement before the release.

That's all I can remember right now.
I can't wait.

looks fantastic for a trailer. they should have shown some gameplay though

people compare mgs4 to to the new splinter cell because they are both of a similiar graphical quality. And if this is rendered in the ingame engine then yes splinter cell is the more rounded better looking game. Because there is alot of instances where the low polycount and texture quality shows in this trailer. Although to be honest metal gear solid gameplay and story telling is in a different league than any splinter cell game to date. Its just awesome. Again though I feel it will be a while before I play it, the ps3 is launching for £425 here in the uk. Lots of retail sites have got this price up. I really want to play metal gear 4, the new devil may cry, final fantasy 13, but my god £425? thats 803 dollars.

To confirm the price:

A big uk gaming site.

I dont care about comapring Splinter Cell to MGS and i never did, never will.

The Truth is: Splinter Cell is a good stealth game with a lack of story and presentation. Uninteresting Characters. Every year you get more of the same, even if this year, there will be some inovations.

Metal Gear Solid is an outstanding piece of art, combined with good stealth gameplay, amazing presentation and some of the best storys videogames have ever seen. The Characterdesign is one of a kind. You get an MGS Game every 3 years if your`re lucky.

To make it short: Its a hold diffrent world.

totally agree Prez mgs is in a different league in terms of enjoyment. I just wish the ps3 wasnt so damn expensive.

Hey Blim, sorry for the off topic, but I've had a problem downloading the old TGS trailer (720p version) that asks me for user and password to download from the main mirror server. I thought that perhaps you wanted to know it.

This game could be the best game in gaming history!

Please, just mark my words...

Kojima is THE man, and nobody makes the games better than him...that´s a fact.

I certainly prefer SC over this game for it's graphical splender and realism, although hopefully this will be a MG to bring me back to playstation gaming. I thought the first metal gear was fantastic, but since then i have been a SC fan.

Every metal gear solid game's trailers and cutscenes are entirely made up of in game engine.

Interesting thing i read over at ign is that, in the famitsu magazine kojima stated, the game would be fully destructable..everytime a metal gear mech attacks a wall..it would be different..guess the concept of nowhere to hide is true.

He also said.." if you thought it looked good now..you haven't seen it all" this statement is interesting, because if you had MGS2 the game..and had a dvd with it..the dvd showcased all the trailers of MGS2 from it's announcement to it's release..the difference was huge..and with 1 more year to go..this game could look better.

Kojima also stated, first time the game looked too realistic and he had to downgrade it..to look like a metal gear game.

I never been a SC fan, sure the gamplay is good, but metal gear has the epic feel and scope, being a fan from MGS1, the game only got better, MGS3 was the greatest of the genre, this looks to do the same..the legend is coming to an end.

Sad thing is..this is the last MG game by kojima and yoji shinkawa..we'll miss you snake..the greatest gaming legend ever created

i liked all the metal gears but 2 and 3 where a bit too much cutscene heavy. Dont get me wrong the story was amazing. But if your gonna have that much story telling have more gameplay in between or break them up into smaller bits. The mgs3 ending was good but I needed a piss 5 minutes in and I cudnt pause it so I sat thier in agony for another 15 minutes.

"The game will make use of the "Six ways of movement" feature of DualShock 3."

How can it still be called dualshock with out the shock. I did hear hideo kojima was sorta pissed at the revealation that sony had taken the rumble feature out. So am I, my favourite games are FPS and these will not use "six ways of movement" thing. Rumble also brings alot to FPS so it makes the PS3 even more unatractive for me.

LOL! that is the greatest review for that game ever! it's so good, you actually would let your bladder explode than run to take a piss

Dude you made my day

Yeah the taking out of vibration feature is a huge let down..i just don't understand why they can't put switch on..when games that enable the motion sensing ability have the rumble off, and for games that don't use the motion sensing ability..toggle the vibration switch on.

Morons, i'm sure a third party would release a controller with rumble feature..i mean..ps3 will have ports of xbox360 games that have rumble..would they simply turn it off completly for ps3? without the rumble..the joypad would seem just plaid and wooden
Commented on 2006-05-13 19:00:44
they cant use rumble because they got sued and lost. The extra features is both an attempt at stealing nintendos fire and to replace a rumble feature they are legally not aloud to use.
