E3: Just Cause: Presentation part 1

E3: Just Cause: Presentation part 1

Except for some not so great screenshots here and there we knew until now next to nothing about Just Cause, the third person shooter from Eidos. So it's with great pleasure that I show you the first part of a long presentation of the game, done with a work-in-progress 360 version. Prepare to be impressed.

Let's recap first. Just Cause let's you play the role of an american special agent, with the mission to bring peace in a country composed of islands. Yes, all by himself. It doesn't seem that incredible, but keep in mind that the country is big, *really* big. Just Cause also uses a non-linear mission system like GTA3, which is good since there are many of them. And the very nice fact is that your character can do some pretty awesome and completely unrealistic things. He's not a super-hero, but some of the stuff he can do is borderline crazy. This is one of our biggest surprise for this E3.
As mentioned before, this is still a very much work-in-progress version requiring a lot of polishing. The pop-in/clipping/shadowing issues will of course be fixed in the final version.
Update: A big "thanks" to Mark of XFERLA.com, who provides us a pretty strong server to host the video. If you have issues to download the file from the USA, this mirror should come in handy !

Wow, looks beautiful, and more importantly, FUN. Far Cry meets Mercenaries. I hope the physics are good and there's a good level of destructibility.

Wait, did he say 250,000 acres ? That is equal to 390 square miles....Oblivion was 16 square miles.

Too manny pop ups, but the games looks to be very fun. It has really amazing animations and physics for such a big and beautiful game. This game looks to be alot more fun then GTA or Crackdown.

Looks interesting, perhaps somewhat hokey being able to open and close the glider/parachute at will. The concept is maybe a bit over the top but the draw distance, procedurally generated world, vehicle control all look really great.

I never heard about this game, thanks for the awesome video. This is a title I'm going to be keeping an eye on now.

I'm confussed on how they will fit this on the disc, and its bigger than Oblivion OMG! Graphics look cool and pop-ups are a bit iffy but compare it to Oblivion an shazam it aint that bad. Whens part 2???

Snoopers, when you say september do you mean this september, I wouldnt be so suprised but not much has been shown of this game and usu. devs dont use the term work in progress unless game is far from finishing, like 50% away. I mean 4 months is still a while to polish the game though. Anyway, I hope crackdown and it dont come out near each other bc they both look like the best sandbox style games ever, each with REALLY unique features

There's a short gamplay vid here:
http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/action/justcause/m...
I don't know, the controls look very 'cheap', infact, the whole game does.
I'm getting a bit of an 'Boiling Point' deja vú here, which, imo, was one of the most annoying games ever made, damn that game sucked bad!
I have a feeling this 'feels' the same.
Also, the world might be huge, but it looks like it's al forest with a few roads and a bunch of buildings.
Nope, not digging this at all...
