Loakum Ugh….scratch that previous comment. The upcoming Game of Thrones video game is a F’in mobile phone game. Why can’t they came an open world GoT game, like Witcher 3 or God of War? (> 3 Months ago)

Commented on 2006-06-22 16:35:38First we had a couple of NFS games called "hot pursuit" and a couple of others, which i cant recall what they're called right now, but they had great cars, nice exotics, super good looking enviroments, day and night-time, there were cops, you could be a cop as well!
Now that was years ago.. and it's sad how first of all EA took the series and mutilated it into a "the fast and the furious" rip off with closed tracks, ricer cars only, and nightime only with poor executed online features...
While i played the first underground game, i kept thinking how good the "hot pursuit" series actually were, and how blessed we were back then with those NFS games... "EA should make a new hot pursuit with the modern technology" is what i kept thinking while playing the first underground...
Then comes the second underground... free roaming added this time... however, nothing has changed really, in the end you were pimping out your ride to get a picture taken of the car so you could advance to the next boring races while your looking for a race or shop in the completely lifeless city where you could drive around in.... crap...
Then comes most wanted!
Wow... was my first reaction when i played the demo of it... we have a viper here, lamborghini is back, nice ford car, the exotics and muscle cars made their way back! woot... plus the city is there, it's still lifeless and boring, but at least we get a piece of what made NFS so great, a nice piece of scenery round the highways, sun set low, bit of daylight this time, nice enviroments, cops are back... and allthough not the best NFS in the world, it looks like they are finally listening to the fans who bought the series by the millions back in the day...
Sure, it still had a stupid story line, they brought in a girl so some guys could get a stiffy while playing the game while she keeps appearing every time you start the game with that stupid line "always drive save, this is just a game..bla bla bla"..
But it looked promising! we could be on our way to the glorious NFS days!
we were wrong.. at least i was...looking at these pics, seeing how EA said the cops will be there, but not as much as in most wanted, no daylight anymore, just night time now, and looking at those pimped out rides, im sorry to say, but im afraid this is a big fat pass for me, and im not looking forward to the NFS series anymore..
I'll get test drive instead, and play the old NFS games.. because this is just sad....

Commented on 2006-06-22 17:03:16I'll let you figure it out. :O
"This better be from the xbox version."
Or else what? You'll whine some more? I bet EA are shaking in their boots!

Commented on 2006-06-22 17:14:02Personally I'd prefer the night time over the brownish Most Wanted color palette... though overall Burnout and TEST DRIVE both look and play much better then this series

Commented on 2006-06-22 18:33:45 In reply to cchanceEA will always make "safe" games... don't be amazed when they make another NFS game after carbon called "grills" which focuses on buying tires...
They internally develop safe games like their sports line and use that profited money to buy unique ideas from other people... this is the reason they are and will continue to be the largest third-party developers.

Commented on 2006-06-22 19:31:44Yet another unsuspecting victim for Forza 2 =P Also guys I wouldn't really read too much into these screens they'll make sure the game looks better than most wanted.
Commented on 2006-06-22 22:00:36I dunno why it's getting so much flak for not being a visually remarkable game. Has it really come to polygons being worth their weight more than the way things come together on screen?
Commented on 2006-06-22 22:21:08If its realistic like your Forza's and what not, even better. The PGR series, i thought, made a fine balance between the two. But as i have discovered numerous times with the NFS series, your car feels like a block of wood with no contact with the road whatsoever. Its floaty. Frustrating physics (collisions especially-driving at 100+ mph into a railing only to have the railing untouched and your car lose some speed) and really stupid AI hampered what could have been a decent playing experience.
I would have been happy if EA Canada or whoever develops the NFS series now fixed these glaring problems, but they continue to do what they do best: release another iteration of a tried and increasingly cliche Need For Speed game on a timescale of less than a year every time. There's no possible way you can innovated and develop a quality game in less than 12 months for like a gajillion consoles.
ughhhh...sadly, i think i'm still going to buy this, only because i'm freakishly optmistic and keep wanting to believe they'll get it right. that part of me really needs to go.
/rant off

Commented on 2006-06-23 20:20:46And it looked stunning to me on the xbox360.
I really liked need for speed underground, the customization feature was great.. From the screens of carbon..it looks dark and nothing like most wanted.
i would love a game that is a merge between most wanted and underground.
Commented on 2006-06-24 00:02:08 In reply to Splicer261As for my own opinion on this matter... I agree with someone that said that EA might have found the way back to the old NFS games which, without a doubt, were amazing (my personal favourite being NFS3: Hot Pursuit) with NFS: Most Wanted. NFS: Carbon just confuses me really, I don't know what to think about the game... at least I don't know yet. Too early to tell. Visually, it doesn't impress me really. As far as audio goes, there's nothing to say.
I was actually hoping for a different turn on this one. Don't get me wrong though, I like pimping the cars, but enough is enough! We've already had 2 NFS: Underground games and one after that (NFS: Most Wanted)... we don't need another one! The car line-up was better in NFS: Most Wanted but FAR from the exotics the old NFS games had to offer.
Too sad really... judging from this trailer, it looks like we'll be waiting a few months/years until we once again get a quality NFS game on our hands.
