Xbox 360

At first announced on Xbox, then canceled, then finally announced for 360, Chromehounds has a rather long history now. Well it's now finally available in Japan and Europe, and even if my full impressions will have to wait until I've played the game a bit more, here are the first 10 minutes of the game, showing a CG cutscene and the full totorial level. More videos in the next few days. The game runs at 60 fps, so do the videos. A powerful PC is required for the 720p version!

To me, the intro looks CG with in-game assets, those assets being the mechs, they pretty much like they do in-game, at least in polygons and detail.

I'd been really looking forward to this game since i saw it before launch, and it does look great.

One thing i must say though is it lacks the "authentic" feel, it would have been nice to have some first person cockpits to just give it that feeling.

Well we can always dream for Chromehounds 2.

I have a feeling Sega's gonna bring the sequel to the PS3, and then say the original sucked because the 360 sucked, like they're doing with Full Auto 2. Although, it depends on how Chromehounds sells on the 360. I'm just waiting for SEGA to release a good game. When they do, its never received well. Granted FROM SOFTWARE developed this, but it only goes on to mar SEGA's image IMO.

Yeah, giving the Ps3 exclusively the Full Auto sequel was just stupid, even if the game was so-so. I'll definetively stop buying from them if they release a Chrome Hounds sequel only on Ps3.

I think its up to Fromsoft where they dev their games Sega only publish them.

Do sega own the rights (IP) to chromehounds ?

That's not to say Sega won't throw more money at them for a PS3 version.

The thing with Full Auto is that it was originally being dev'd as multiplatform and then they cancelled the PS3 version, but it was more like they decided to make the PS3 version Full Auto 2 because they had longer to work on it.

I can see similar happening with Fight Night 3.

rest assured that the intro IS realtime.
lol. BlimBlim already said its not realtime, and it is so obvious that he shouldn't have even had to. Theres really no argument, if you cant see the difference between the gfx of the CGI intro and the actual game then theres something wrong with your eyes.

Yep, the demo is really boring and doesn't give you the feeling of controlling a huge war machine. If you have played MechAssault, you know what I mean. But I must say that MechAssault is slightly faster and it has jumppacks, power-ups and in the second MA title you can have the nice little "battle suit" and do some cool tricks with it. Chromehounds doesn't have any of these features as far as I know. It's just one of those games that aren't really broken, but are so uninspiring and not ambitious enough that you'll lose your interest in them very quickly. If you want to play a mech sim, play Steel Battalion.

Graphics-wise I have seen better-looking games even on the PS2. Sure, the mechs are ok, but the environments are simply bland and empty. The destruction you can cause is quite limited, too. There's nothing "next-gen" in Chromehounds.

I didn't download this vid yet but from the other ones I saw, this game lost me when things that blew up suddenly dissapeared with a puff of smoke.

C'mon it was dumb in DOOM3 and it seriously dumb here.

What were they thinking, killing things with a Mech is all about the CARNAGE you can amount on the battle field.

Looking around and seeing the piles of debris from your rampage is half the fun.

Ouch, was pretty disappointed with this one.

Earlier videos had showed some promise, but this just looks like an XBox1 game running in high res, with some nice particles.

One of the first 360 games to have a truly smooth framerate, and there's nothing in the environment. Destroyed tanks magically disappear without a trace. Wow.
