Castle Crashers announced for the Arcade

Behemoth today announced their new game Castle Crashers during the Comic-Con, a side-scrolling old-school beat'em'up for the XL Arcade. They released a bunch of images and a great trailer, showing some cool stuff.
Update: Most of the images removed after Behemoth's request.

Due to an human error, some images were published on this site that weren't supposed to be published this early. Our deepest apologies to Behemoth.

Finally somebody gets a F***ING CLUE!

A 2d scrolling beatem-up like Golden Axe, Streets of Rage 2 or Cadillacs and Dinosaurs, esp in co-op (or when it was known as "two players"), is one of the artistic, gameistic and org*smic culminations of gaming, EVER.

Not only did they choose the genre of gods, they seem to be utilising the midas touch in the graphics department aswell (as in huge amounts of crap flying around in the bg etc). Could be painfully hand-animated and drawn graphics like old times, but those times will never return (when artists were paid well, and had the time to spend months animating 2d characters)

Long live 2D! Long live the motha effin ARCADE!

.. and burgerised 60 buck "last-last-last-gen" game makers, be afraid, be very afraid. The generation of generations will bury your feeble garbage for 400 to 800 points.

Good to see the creators of Alien Homind making a XBLA game.

This is why I love Xbox Live Arcade, do you think we'd ever see this if it wasn't for XBLA? Hell no, this is fantastic, it allows more innovative ideas to be brought out for cheap, more cool games that'd otherwise never see the light of day. Whoever over at MS decided on this whole integrated arcade idea is a pure genius and is the savior of 2d gaming.

Sure we've had 2d fighters forever and some 2d rpgs, but the other genres are going to come back now as this gets more popular and we're going to be treated to the simplistic beauty of 2d graphics and the immense power that can be leveraged from the 360.

Why have a dozen enemies on screen if you can pull on that power and toss a few hundred or thousand out there. Give me attacks like Guardian Heroes and enemies numbering in the thousands and you will have sent me to heaven.

Support your indy developers people. Without them we're stuck with endless rehashes of old arcade games (Pacman, Joust, etc).

Not that there is anything particularly wrong with the old games but good indy developed games like this one (and the recently released Cloning Clyde) really make XBLA shine and offer a nice change of pace.

Naked pixels? CHE..... hey wait! Let me check....

Ah, sot it.. just bring me the game already! :D
