Xbox 360 PS3

Here come two new screenshots of Frontlines: Fuel of War, the new FPS of Kaos Studios (they are the creators of Battlefield 2's famous mod "Desert Combat", on PC). The game isn't really a graphical showcase of the Unreal Engine 3, but it seems detailed enough, knowing how big and free the maps are supposed to be.

I'm not trying to sound like a graphics whore, but isn't the Unreal Engine3 supposed to make graphic art simpler. It's a liscensed engine. Gears os War is the benchmark for the engine. Now I'm spoiled by its visuals.
Well, that's not true.

Gears of War is made by epic, the people that make the unreal engine. That means they already know the engine inside-out.

If anything, Gears of War would be the optimum of the UE3.

Sure, they may have seperate teams making the engines and games, but if anyone's in the position to utilise the Unreal engine best, its Epic.

Nowadays when you hear that a game is utilizing the Unreal Engine3, you expect more more from a game's visuals. And with good reasoning. These are good, but they are Halo2 good, And that's a problem when it comes to a next gen machine. I'm not trying to sound like a graphics whore, but isn't the Unreal Engine3 supposed to make graphic art simpler. It's a liscensed engine. Gears os War is the benchmark for the engine. Now I'm spoiled by its visuals. The first shot is impressive, but the second shot looks like a totally different game.
I don't know what you are talking about but if you expect the visuals of game by some small developer to compete on the same level as MS/Epic's multimillion dollar baby, then I don't know what to say. Gears of War is the HIGH BAR of the engine. Most developers will not reach this level until later, by which time Epic will have raised it again. Both shots look similar in quality to me.

Aren't these the same guys that worked on BF2 for Dice/EA, and got fired when that game was done? Would be the ultimate revenge offcourse, make a simular game as BF2, but then better!! I think they have a chance of doing that because the BF2 engine is far from perfect in some area's, and I think UE 3.0 is probably better in those area's (by which I mean, i.e. loadtimes, and how it deals with infantry based FPS, movement, netcode/hitdetection)..
