Stranglehold imagé

Stranglehold imagé

Stranglehold se faisait discret depuis l'E3, mais le jeu dévéloppé en partenariat avec John Woo en personne nous refait un petit coucou avec ces 3 nouvelles images.

First off, it's known as the stair stepping effect, not the "ladder effect". Secondly, it could be from either build for the 360 or the PS3. Unreal Engine 3 games aren't really using AA. At least, Gears of War isn't. Go look at some of the newer screenshots of Gears and you'll see that there's some aliasing going on there.

I believe the environments are destructible so maybe that has something to do with the loss of detail. Perhaps when they get the game more optimized, they'll up the level of detail.

Looks great, hopefully they can keep the framerate WAAAAY up, I'm sort of tired of the fact that so few 360 games are locked at 60 FPS.

The game looks better in motion, well at least judging from the marketplace trailer and other HD footage of the game out there. Does it even have a release date yet? I can't wait to play it.

I'm really not sure why everyone is so anal about AA. Seriously, at 1280x720 and above you really don't need it. Every game people have screamed about having no AA I honestly can't notice the difference between that and other games that do.

This game looks awesome though, Max Payne with destructible environments.

I'm really looking forward to this game. It looks great in stills and awesome in action.

Heard it got delayed... Anyone know anything about that?
Commentaire du 03/08/2006 à 15:56:14
people seriously need to stop wanting 60fps... video is 30fps because its about the max you can image process yourself..... if its LOCKED at 30fps and doesnt drop below it then its a perfect game... the reason for 60fps is because it gives it room to drop and not drop below 30fps... but if they can LOCK a game at 30fps and not any lower there are no gaming issues visible.

The problem with not having AA munkie is coming from those guys at SD not at HD... at HD the resolution and TV's themselves pretty much smooth everything over ... but when their at 480i their having to deal with jaggies.

And yes its delayed it was on teamxbox today

"ladder effect" man. i saw this words so many times.
Unreal Engine 3 cant use AA. bullsh*t .
Xbox360 can do HDR+AA very easyly. (because of its embedded 10Mb EDRAM)

I would point you to the link to why you are completely wrong but I'm too lazy to go look for it again.

Stair stepping. That's what most people call it. Here's a link to it being used in explaining anti-aliasing on Intel's website: http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-012644...

I never said that the 360 couldn't do AA at all, just not in this particular case. Like someone else mentioned, once you get into the higher resolutions, it becomes less of a problem.

Oh I found the beloved link http://amo.net/NT/02-21-01FPS.html
Please don't post your ignorant BS about how the human eyes can't process above 30fps.

It's getting old and annoying.

It's like every argument where someone wants to play at 60fps some idiot will come in and state this TOTALLY FALSE FACT.
I am pretty sure Stronghold will be at 30fps but saying 60fps will be no better because we can't see the difference, makes you an idiot.
no, he's not an idiot....90% of people that play games don't have a clue what framerate is and wouldn't complain if a game was 30 FPS rather than 60FPS.

30FPS = Very Smooth
60FPS = Extremely Smooth

I think there's a problem with UE3 and tiling.

After watching the gameplay trailers from E3, i couldn't care less for the graphics. The gameplay is where it's at.

No 30FPS should be an absolute minimum and it sure as hell isn't very smooth, take a look at the saints row demo chugging around 20-15 fps wich makes it pretty unplayable, console gamers think 30 FPS it good since it's pretty much a standard for console games but pc gamers are used to 60-120+FPS and playing a game in those frame rates makes a world of difference, i like the 360 but im fed up with games hardly reaching 30FPS.
Commentaire du 03/08/2006 à 17:44:12
I can live with 30fps but for anyone saying the human eyes can't process more then 30fps should be shot.

60FPS will always be better then 30fps.

Not really true.. On the PC I play all my games @ 1280x1024, and still most games need at least 2xAA to get rid of most annoying alliasing.. But it's true that the higher the resolution the less alliasing you will see.. And some games are more sensitive to aliasing then others, i.e. in Quake4 I don't need AA, but in Battlefield 2 even 2xAA already makes a lot of difference to me..

And needing 60fps for all consolesgames is nonsense.. Only if you play fast paced games with fps sensitive controls (like FPS on the PC) you'll need that, otherwise a steady 30+fps will do just fine.. Needing more then 60fps for anything is also nonsense (Quake4 on PC being locked at 60fps proves that).. Also there is no way to check the fps on a console, so this is a disuccion over something we cannot check, pretty useless.. Aslong as the game looks and feels smooth to me, I'm ok.. With my Xbox 360 games I'm a lot more forgiving then with my PC games, but that's probably because I'm a hardcore PC FPS gamer, and with most consolesgames it doesn't really make a big difference if the fps drops a bit sometimes (more casual experience)..

I just hope it plays as good as it looks. I know it's a shooter, but just because it's a shooter doesn't mean that it shouldn't have an intriguing story line. I'm tired of game characters carrying around guns and weapons as if they're attached to their bodies. Why aren't the characters and backgrounds more interactive in a shooter. There should be some small rpg elements in every game regardless if it's a shooter or not. Since this is a John Woo story, I shouldn't expect more than guys shooting guns and changing clips hands free and pulling guns from under their armpits in a cool manner while in bullet time. That about sums it up. Yes indeed.

B-Roll footage on Gamespot from E3 looks seriously cool. It's gonna have multiplayer, vehicles and a sandbox mission structure with multiple routes and options apparently.
