Parabellum: A brand new tactical FPS

Parabellum: A brand new tactical FPS

Acony Games, a german independant game studio is preparing a tactical FPS powered by Unreal Engine 3!
Their lovely baby is named Parabellum, and is about a counter terrorist style gaming.
"Parabellum draws the player into a likely scenario of nuclear terror in New York City. An extremist group known as “Black November” is holding the entire city hostage by threatening to detonate a thermonuclear bomb. Their condition is the withdrawal of all United States military forces from the middle east. If this condition will not be fulfilled within 10 days, Black November will detonate the 20 Megaton nuclear warhead. According to intelligence information, the bomb could be hidden almost anywhere in NYC."
The good news is that they promised the biggest multiplayer Environment ever created: The whole city!
The game is scheduled for PC, Xbox360 and PS3 on the second half of 2007.

Yet another FPS ..... looks ok and I hope they can pull off what they promised for Multiplier ...

they're claiming to do the whole city of new york?

honestly, I'd prefer a smaller area with more detail, cuz this game is probably gonna suck. I'll gladly eat crow if I have to, but I probably won't, true crime proved that this is much harder to do well than, it seems, anyone is capable of.

come on...this is getting redicilous. What does this FPS have that all the other ones don't...

I bet the bomb is hidden in Optimus's bedroom.
FPS or not, it deserves a chance.

""PARABELLUM draws the player into a likely scenario of nuclear terror in New York City. "

Likely? heheh.

Hopefully it'll be good but I guess it'll be yet another FPS.

That story definetly sounds frightening when you consider the possibility of it actually happening. Let's not give terrorists any ideas that they haven't already thought of. Geesh...........

Does sound scary.
The graphical art direction is slightly off for me, but still very good.

Yeah, whats with it and these FPS, don't any of these developers have any imagination at all.

Come on, let's try something new i.e. Dead Rising, Kameo and err..... someone know anything else other than racing and sports?

Man this machine is the reincarnation of the Xbox 1 (no ideas and just FPS)

EDIT: Ok there were some ideas on the Xbox 1, but it didn't out way the FPS in the slightest

They are german, so it isn't close to home for them, and they don't care.

so far it has a "been there, done that"-feel to it. hard to judge from the little info we have.
but so far, so meh...:)

if, however they pull the wholecity-thing off using u3`s streaming feature. (NO load screens!) then it could be interesting in multiplayer. wait and see i guess ^_^

you know im sick and f*cking tired of comments basically blaming the 360 for having so many FPS's ... it's not microsoft nor the 360's fault that developers go with FPS's ... its the developers problems ... so if anything cuss the studios not the machine...

Yes there should be more original games out their... but the fact is besides for nintendo... companys seem to be too afraid to try anything ... new...

I'd love to see a Sims for the 360 ... but apparently thats too much to ask for from EA... so far the only really offshoot game is Viva Pinata which is kinda kiddy but i might actually get it just so me and my girlfriend have something to f*ck around with together... and i blame EA and the other studios not microsoft because i really sincerly DOUBT microsoft is sitting their chanting "WE WANT FPS'S"

In actuality, we haven't had many FPS' on the 360. We have CoD2 2 which is brilliant, but then we have averageness of PDZ, Battlefield and possibly Far Cry.

Condemned, you cannot class in the same genre just because of it's viewpoint, it is far more. Oblivion is not an FPS, GRAW isn't an FPS, etc. I actually want another FPS, but there aren't many to choose from.

the weapons seem to have a nice metal look and if we can run around NYC then i dont see why the hell not we shouldn't look after this one.

What's up?
  • Burglarize
Burglarize Just watched 'The Duel' myself. Pretty good. Although why they chose those horrific filters for the animation I'll never know. Also, the music was straight-up Naruto, even if it is traditional. (44 minutes ago)
  • SimonM7
SimonM7 @digi_matrix: It's way before the games. (3 Hours ago)
  • Megido
Megido Animation and art was terrible, the samurai and japanese stuff was awful too. Why not just let halo be halo? (3 Hours ago)
  • digi_matrix
digi_matrix wow, that Duel story was pretty awesome. I've always been interested in the Elites, but they being very Japanese-like was a bit jarring. This must be set AFTER Halo 3, right? So sad :( (4 Hours ago)
  • SimonM7
SimonM7 Yeah, you have had netflix for ages too. We got Zune Marketplace now though and can finally rent stuff on the 360. The points system on the 360 is retarded when you wanna rent a movie though. (10 Hours ago)
  • Phaethon360
Phaethon360 It's been in the US for a while. (11 Hours ago)
  • SimonM7
SimonM7 Destructoid was talking about a video rental service on the PS3. Has that launched in europe yet? If so, is it only accessible in select countries? (12 Hours ago)
